This place was divine. Modern, simple yet classy decor. I had the carrot ginger soup which was incredibly tasty, and the radish salad which was fantastic if you really like radishes, and I do. My friend had the endive salad and thought it was also great. I had the rainbow trout for an entree and I don't think it could... More

We went for a dinner before going to the theater. I think I had just created too much expectation after reading the reviews. The food had a good presentation, but flavor was just ok though... It didn't have that ingredient mixing that gives the authentic flavor in French cuisine, maybe because it's a fusion between French and American cuisine. The... More

First time and I'll be back. Went to Cowell & Hubbard before a show at Playhouse and it was wonderful. Service was fast, but not rushed. The place was packed but apps and entrees came out of the kitchen fast. They were prepared perfectly. Wife had Salmon and I had the Chicken. The cauliflower mash with the Chicken was very... More

We visited Cowell & Hubbard last Friday at lunch with a regular patron, who was well acquainted with the menu. He recommended the pork stack, which was excellent. My husband ordered the burger which was prepared perfectly medium rare. Our resident expert ordered the Caesar. The chef-owner has a string of restaurants in Cleveland, and we are eager to try... We, 2 couples, have dinner before attending the theater, on a regular basis. the last 2 visits have us rethinking our restaurant choice. First our reservation which we make 2 to 4 weeks in advance has been misfiled, and the wine list has changed with a large increase in prices. Lastly they lost there most experienced and professional waitress, Lorretta.... More

Really enjoyed the lunch I had with a group of friends. Large comfortable booth fit us all in. Loved the cod dish, and one of my fellow diners loved the mushroom soup and hamburger with perfect fries. Chicken wings were ordered as well, and their special creme dessert was fantastic. Our server was very attentive. Really nice place for lunch,... More

Travelling downtown for a function with my wife and mother, I took them to Cowell & Hubbard for what I anticipated would be a nice meal based upon a number positive reviews; however, I found the experience to be somewhat disappointing. The décor is a rather plain, sparse, urban contemporary better fitting a café or diner than an expensive, fine... More

We went here after a musical in a nearby theater. Not very crowded on a late Saturday night (we were told that this was unusual). The service was very attentive and pleasant. A good wine selection and nice appetizers (the tomato soup was excellent). The bianco pizza and the duck paprikash were both excellent. The setting is in an old... More

I dined solo but was treated with great respect. The food was terrific - a great mushroom soup, a salad with dried apricots and pickled rhubarb, fettuccine carbonara, with a great glass of Finger Lake wine! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Just visited this place last nite just before watching a play at Playhouse Square. We had the tamale appetizer which was good (not great, needed more tomatillo sauce), and crab/shrimp cakes (wonderful) and lamp shoulder (very good) for our meal. Service was outstanding but the decor is barely above average. Expect to pay close to $100 for two if you... More
