Went on a dinner with my work team. The food was great (very heavy though) but lots of the orders went wrong and it was quite slow. Staff very friendly but just not good communication between them all.

I took my mum to a pre-Christmas treat at Il Venetian on Dec 23 (a Monday), and we had a wonderful dinner, made even better by impeccable warm efficient (and humorous) service from Rhonda. Needless to say, Il Venetian's dishes remain consistently outstanding. This time,...we had the riccotta with pink peppercorns (home made and addictive), egg plant rollatini and octopus - yum. By the time, we were asked about main courses, we decided to go straight for dessert. IV was so kind as to bring complimentary desserts and for the first time, I tried their cheese cake - light and ethereal - well, it won't be our last.More

The food is great, and when my pasta arrived not as hot as I would hope, it was remade as was my colleague's so he wouldn't eat before me. And both of our dinners were comp'd . That is great service. The wine list was...great and brought us joy as carried one label which has meaning and we enjoyed a lot. I never leave work early enough to enjoy the happy hour at Il Venetian but will make a point to do so. Thank you for making a normal work dinner special.More

I went here for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. First, this is one of the most beautiful hotel restaurants in Cleveland and really one of the most beautifully designed hotel restaurants I’ve ever been in. It’s not a large space, but the chic look...was really right on. As for the food it was mostly good. I had the caramelle pasta, which was filled with a delicious squash purée. The harvest salad was too big and overdressed, but the flavors were citrusy. The bread and herbed olive oil to start could not have been better. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating and you just went to be at the table. We had a wheelchair and the hostess could not have been more helpful. If there’s one thing I don’t like about this place, in addition to there being a somewhat discreet television at the bar, is the name. It just doesn’t make sense. “Il” is “the” in Italian and Venetian is English for someone from Venice. Why they would decide to combine an Italian word and an English word for their name just makes absolutely no sense. They should’ve just called it the Venetian. The logo is also dreadfully ugly. It doesn’t at all match the sophisticated look of the design inside.More

My new favorite Italian spot in Cleveland! Everything was outstanding. Don't be deterred by it being located inside the Marriott.

Food: 4 out of 5. However, my husband's lobster bisque came out tepid and lacking a soup spoon. Service: Questionable. I can't wrap my head around how this staff was trained. There is stilted service in Europe and am wondering if this level of service...is being emulated. Who serves bread? When does the cocktail and wine menu emerge? Why did it take nearly an hour for our entrees? Decor: Appears to be unfinished. I eyed every corner and wondered why service cubbie bookcases remained of the previous David's restaurant while Venetian glass sconces and chandeliers, a small had been added. And why not have tablecloths? Placemats at a downtown, highish priced restaurant? Why did the host seat another couple next to us when all the other tables were available and servers were available? I do hope to come back one day for happy hour. Am really hoping for staff service improvements. Kudos regarding the Il Venetian salad and the dressing . Your short ribs, polenta and veggies were damn near perfection.More

Instead of our usual dinner at Il Venetian, we came for appetisers and apperitifs. From the service to the Bellinis, outstanding. Bellinis here are superbly balanced and at $5 for happy hour, what value. Flatbread yummy. We'll certainly be back for both dinner and for...appetizers/happy hour.More

So first let me say we LOVE the Marble Room, so we were excited to try this sister restaurant for our anniversary. Well, we set out to make the best of it no matter what, and thank God we did that. This was a flop...from beginning to end. The only bright spot was the waitress was lovely. (although we asked for several things and we didn't get them, she was pleasant.) First of all, my reservation stated, "Anniversary romantic table please," the restaurant was EMPTY and they tried to seat us next to the only other couple in the restaurant in row seating. Not exactly what I think of when I say romantic. The items on the menu were not available, after we ordered, so we had to re-order. When our dinners came my husband's was underwhelming (blueberry risotto - to be fair the waitress did state it was probably a better side dish than entre) and mine (lobster ravioli) was so over powered by lemon and parmesan I could barely taste the lobster. I knew there was lobster in it when I bit down on a piece of a claw (see pic). The wine was ok. The bread was ok. The ambiance was just ok. (Our view was of the Justice Center - not exactly romantic) I wouldn't revisit this restaurant. I would not recommend this to anyone. Save your money and go elsewhere. Not the way I wanted to spend my anniversary. :(More

We visited this restaurant a year ago and loved it. Strangely, it took us another year to return. It is probably because it feels like a special occasion restaurant and it was my birthday, again. Amazingly, the Maître d'hôtel remembered us. Our server, Timothy was...attentive and very professional. He sold us on their happy hour, so we will be checking that out. The Wine list is extensive and we chose a Stags Leap Chardonnay. It is not exactly the wine to have with a beef filet but she was having chicken. Both dishes were fabulous. I had the prosciutto as a starter. Other than being too much of a good thing for a starter, it was delicious.More
