My most memorable dinner experience possibly ever, was taking my elderly father, wife and daughter in-law to the Canal Tavern to celebrate Oktoberfest! Being of German heritage, I wanted to celebrate with my family and wasn't disappointed! My wife loved the sauerkraut balls and has...More

Came here for the schnitzel because it was very near the hike we wanted to take after on the canal towpath, Ohio and Erie Canal, (the same canal the people from Zoar helped build). It goes from Ft. Laurens to Schoenbrunn Village. The trailhead is...More

This was our second time here and the experience again was very good. The servers are attentive, the building is charming, and the food is tasty. The menu is slightly upscale, but not overly expensive. I won't get the crab cake for lunch next time,...More

Historic tavern with indoor and outdoor dining. Good food with some nice German specialties on menu. The pork schnitzel was tasty. Good desserts. We would definitely go back for a return visit.

It had been a while since we are here and we were glad to return. Starting off with tasty sauerkraut balls, my wife then had a chicken schnitzel with spaetzel and I had the pork loin chop. Both were great! My favorite, beignets and ice...More
