In town for business, never been to this restaurant so we thought why not give it a go. Great meals, great friendly service, cold beer good wines, what more could we ask for. Excellent for a Bistro, large serves, hot and tasty. Will come back

Had a fantastic meal of chicken breast with avocado topped with melted Brie cheese and a tasty hollandaise sauce. I enjoyed every mouthful. The salad and veg bar was great, I was tempted to just have that as they were so good. The next night I had the curry special which was ok.

We stayed overnight her recently and offer the following: - The rooms are great - the staff are great - the evening meal was very average (I have previously had great evening meals here). Breakfast was great and catered for my coeliac wife exceptionally well

The Sundowner serves a variety of classic Australian pub food for what seems to be a largely undiscerning clientele, with an emphasis on hearty meals and a free salad and veggie bar. It mostly caters to family groups on a budget. Fine dining it isn't, but it offers good, tasty meals - my dining companions appreciated the fish and chips... More

Not many places open after 8pm so good to be able to order up until 8.30pm. Meal served quickly and salad and Vegetable bar still well stocked even though end of service. Staff friendly and meal quality and size very adequate.

The food was good quality - I felt the mains were a little over priced. I think that if they combined the Big Breakfast with the Continental Breakfast that would be a lot better for families and regular business visitors.

We ate in the dining room at the Sundowner with my dive group. they were able to seat around 30 people and offered an at table drinks service, dinner was still ordered by going to the counter. The restaurant appeared to be popular with the locals.

Looks like a shed from the road, which is probably the same for everything else in Whyalla, but inside the restaurant is another world. Sure, a very big space, like a shed, but great ambiance for the middle of nowhere. I think it's the lighting. They've taken some care there. And, the service! The staff here are very, very, well... Had a lovely meal, with great service and were about to order another round of drinks at 9.000pm when we were asked to move to the bar. Felt like we were being herded towards the pokies rather than allowing us to make our own decisions.
