Quality of food was excellent. Had lamb which was perfectly cooked and tasty. The accompaniments of potato and veg were meagre and just felt like you were just eating a lump of meat (albeit a very nice lump). Service was extremely friendly but a bit slow. Beer was good and place good if you want something bit posher than average... More

Stopped here for lunch on a gentle wander along the Derwent Valley Trail and really glad we did. Lovely little terrace, welcoming staff and possibly the best Cuban sandwich in Derbyshire!

Excellent food and service - and if you are looking for overnight accommodation, excellent rooms too. The team are very friendly, and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. An excellent base for so many outdoor activities.

The accommodation was spot on -exactly what we were looking for. Reasonably priced in a good location and clean. The breakfast was good. We had Sunday lunch at the plough inn too. We had to have a minimum of two courses which neither of us really fancied. I had the fish cake to start which was OK. I had lamb... More

We've just stayed in Hathersage for a week, and visited the Plough 4 times with our two dogs; twice for drinks, and twice to eat. The Sunday lunchtime roast was generous and tasty, and the evening meal we chose from the full menu was equally enjoyable. The Bakewell Pudding and creme brûlée desserts were particularly relished! Prices were very reasonable... More

Have been here on a number of occasions, most recently with a group of 23 people. Service is slow (they are always busy) and the prices are not cheap, but the food is consistently good. Still the best place to eat in Hathersage, I think. Great for families, as there's wireless to keep the kids occupied. Better still, there's no... More

Lovey location and great outside area. The menu was very pricey but after a lovely long walk we thought we would treat ourselves. The serving staff are very young, pleasant but a bit slow and inexperienced. Our £15 steakwhich was average and undercooked - ordered medium and it was so rare it was cold. Credit to the pub they gave... More

Used to come here occasionally when I was a student at Sheffield and so dragged my girlfriend here for lunch on a rainy Bank Holiday Monday that subsequently dried up. We had one course (she had a Cuban-style Pulled Pork sandwich; Roast Lamb for me - what else?) and we shared sticky toffee pud (again, what else?). The food was... More

Chose this one by chance. It is a nice pub, more of a restaurant really. Family and dog friendly. The menu is proper restaurant food, not pub fare. My husband had fantastic fish and chips. I had excellent pasta. The prices were more than I would even pay in London Ina restaurant though.
