Went here on fri night & I must say it was the nicest Indian I have had,the waiter was attentive and intrusive & the food was lovely good popadoms with very nice mint sauce which tasted as it should, fabulous Jalfarezi curry, hubby's mix grill went down a treat to. The thing I liked the most about the raj is the service. The staff here are lovely, they are happy and engaging. It's not rushed either so don't expect to be in and out. The food is pretty solid, I had the rogan and naan. It could have been a little more bold in flavour but it wasn't bad. I... More

The food was blunt lacking any flavours. It reminded me the flat pack takeaway from the supermarket. In fact even the texture was the same. Very poor presentation and slow service. All of this for premium price. Definitely not ever coming back. Please avoid

The Rajpoot came with a recommendation so the expectation was very high. The starter was excellent, however the wait between servings was not, seemed to take ages and on a Wednesday evening there were only 9 people in the restaurant. The main curry was average and the accompaniments let it down, rice was bland and the so was the naan,... More

We've been here a few times as treat. It's more expensive than your standard curry house, but the food is nicer and so are the surroundings. Not sure why it's got poor reviews from other customers.

My partner brought me here for our second date and we had a very nice time. It feels like you're walking into someone's living room rather than a restaurant which was a bit disconcerting at first because there was no-one else there (but it was a Tuesday). Once we sat down and got settled it was fine though and the... More

Visited on. Saturday night - sitting down at 7pm. Ended after 10.30 and at £36 per head poor value - without water on the table, coffee or any extras.. Staff seemed totally untrained and service was so slow with drinks being forgotten off the order. Chutneys were the best part of the meal All but one of the main courses... More

My wife and I visited the Rajpoot on the spur of the moment for dinner. The period Victorian dining area was nice but not good. The highlight were the staff who were excellent, very polite and attentive. We had some poppadoms to start but the sauce bowls were dusty and had dried sauce around the tops which looked to have... As a first time diner here, I thought I'd play it safe and order a medium curry, however, it was bland, only just warm enough not to send back and uninspiring. The chicken did not taste or look as if it had been cooked in the clay oven as stated on the menu and lacked flavour and the sauces were... More

Set in a charming Georgian building in Clifton, Rajpoot is one of Bristol's finest Indian restaurants. Set over two levels, the interior is equally traditional - complete with crisp linen tablecloths, silver cutlery and huge windows overlooking the Downs. The menu covers the principal regions of India and includes familiar favourites, cooked as they would be in Indian homes. Popular dishes include the tandoori trout barbecued over a clay over; lamb shashlik; and chicken chat served with a twist of lemon and minted yoghurt dressing
