Friendly service in a pub that just needs a facelift. Good beer. We arrived after a walk on a winter Saturday. The pub was full to busting when we arrived but soon quietened down.

We popped in for a couple of pints, locals very friendly, beer reasonably priced. They asked if we wanted to stay for the quiz but we'd already planned to go to the local Indian restaurant.
Yes more good beer, sat outside but dogs allowed and welcomed indoors, the staff are very friendly and helpful, food seemed good but did not eat here
Stayed here and received fabulous hospitality. Rooms clean and very good value. Car parking good and right in the centre of a beautiful village next to lovely Church with fabulous chiming clock. Would happily return if visiting. Didn't eat there so can't comment , but...More
New years break in castleton and called in twice. Locals squeezed up so we could sit down. The bar person brought our dog a bowl of water and a treat. Shame restaurant wasn't open other wise we would have eaten there also.
