Called in for an evening meal on Sunday night and were only just in time as they stop serving food at 8:15pm on quiz night. We had sausage and mash and lamb's liver bacon and mash, which were delicious. There was a good selection of ales and the staff were friendly. We stayed for the quiz which was a bit... More

Someone my Aunty met on a train station recommended Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn and boy, are we grateful? The food is so very good, not a long waiting time and the quality of the food ...... Wow! Tasted fresh, it was filling, the staff were pleasant and friendly but not nosy or staying too long at your table to... More

While staying in Castleton we frequented the Cheshire Cheese most days and found this a very warm and friendly pub. Dogs allowed in the bar area and made very welcome by Thomas the Land Ladies son. Sam and meg (The Dogs) enjoyed the doggie bags from the delicious meals. We can recommend the Pies as these are very tasty indeed.... More

We had a lovely meal here. We each had a different pie and both were delicious. Dog friendly which was great for us. We went back on the evening to watch the cosy Irish theme band and again another night for the quiz. Friendly welcoming pub.

Travelling with business, arrived quite late on a week night staff were happy to serve us dinner at around 8.30pm after getting stuck in traffic. Food was welcoming, hearty and good value. We were staying the night and attending a business event the following day so needed to be away earlyish. We asked, (as instructed to do so on the... More

Unfortunately we were staying across the road but if we could have 'done a runner' we would have!! Great food, massive portions and good menu choice. Staff friendly and attentive. Keep up the good work!

I guess my expectations were set by previous reviews and how lovely this pub looked from the outside. The food was plentiful but average in quality/taste. The pub itself seemed to lack a certain something.

Great selection of beer! It's old fashioned inside with lots of little alcoves and a really good atmosphere! We haven't had food but the beer was good and we had a great night chatting with friends. It's a cosy pub! Walkers are welcome

Great food and beer with charming staff. We eat here every trip. The chips are crispy on the oitside and fluffy on the inside.
