We stayed in Castleton for 3 nights and came here for all 3 as we were so happy with the food, service, beer and dog friendly atmosphere on the first night. We tried the 'famous innkeepers pie' which was delicious, as was the halloumi salad...More

We had an evening meal here in July. The service was poor and the food, although large portions was below average. When the main course was brought to our table we asked for drinks. We were asked to get our own drinks from the bar.

Very friendly staff, we stopped off for some lunch. We ordered some sandwiches that were HUGE and tasted lovely. I would go back again.

The exterior is so attractive, inside is also quite nice. The food is excellent with the ale and steak a clear winner. There is also a wide range of beers available.

Pleasant enough just thought in need of a little jazzing up. Cool on a very hot day . Staff lovely. We chose not to eat there as the food looked uninspiring. Nice touch having inn keepers names and dates on the beams.
