Some stones across a shallow river. Sounds unexciting but take the hike from Ilam country park to the stones and it's what the Peak District is about. If you're not keen on sharing a field with sheep best avoid, they tend to ignore you anyway, but don't forget the wellies or hiking boots!

Monday to Fridays from 12 noon to 5pm, 2 selected meals for £10. Wife and I both chose gammon, chicken and mustard pie with fries, peas and jug of gravy. Piping hot. Lovely. Free parking. Would definitely return.

Staying in the hotel next door. I wasn't even planning on going for food and what a shame that would've been! Best sweet potato fries I have ever tasted. Burgers were perfectly cooked and the staff were so very sweet. I'd return happily and recommend to anyone visiting ashbourne.

We chose this pub as it had a gluten free menu & one of our party was gluten free, the food was really disappointing, poor quality, extremely over cooked & very dry. We did mention it to the waitress & she did give us money off the bill but we wouldn't go back

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, we were staying in the travelodge next door so after a long journey this was ideal for a feed! Plus we didn't book so got seen too straight away despite being busy. Typical chain pub grub but if it's what you're after it does the trick. We did have one disaster on... More
