Recently went to Sellafield on business. Booked this hotel and was very happy. The room was standard but comfortable but the food in the restaurant was delicious and filling. Just what you need after a day at work.

Lovely friendly atmosphere to this hotel. Food was excellent. Steak pie and chips is a must followed by real rice pudding. Very pet friendly as the owners lovely dogs are about. Bar is great with some good beers. Plenty of parking space as in rural setting.

Very nice, honest and homely place. Food is excellent and the chef, although sexy, is very very good. Surroundings is a joy and there's a on site brewery, what more could a man want. One question I must ask, where's my mate the quicken, here today - gone today??? All in all though, I would definitely recommend this Hotel and... More

Nice big room (room 7) with plenty of furniture, seating and space. Good evening meal and enjoyed one of the in-house beers. Room faced the busy main road at the front and the bed was quite hard. Chickens outside, a dog wondering about reception and a parrot in a cage, but no real issue for me even if I'm not... More

Visited this hotel after it was recommended by my sister and her husband who also returned with us, lovely hotel, made to feel very welcome. My husband and I stayed in room 8 which was more than comfortable with a comfortable bed, wonderful free standing bath and large shower. Good choice of food in the evening and was delicious, breakfast... More

I cannot believe what that last comment about this hotel being smelly is about. I stayed there last week due to work and I could not smell any dogs or parrots !! There are dogs and a parrot but are kept clean and tidy and do not bother anyone. The room I stayed in (room 7) was newly decorated and... More

The owners try hard, but someone has to tell them this place stinks. There is a smell of parrot, dogs, and dog food as you enter the reception and bar. Make sure you close the door behind you checking the chickens have not followed you in.

Arrived Saturday evening but no bar meals available as there was a private function on, there was a carvery but not unti 7.30pm but wanted to eat before then so went elsewhere but booked in for Sunday lunch instead which turned out to be pretty average, ok but not anything special. Diissapointed with own brewed cider, had hairs in it... More

My husband and I arrived late Monday night and they kept the kitchen open just for us. I ordered the old fashioned liver, bacon and onions over mash. The hubby had sirloin steak with chips. Best food we've had in Cumbria! Twice cooked chips and a steak you could cut with a butter knife just to his liking. The Landlady... More
