Visited here on a rather bleak Saturday afternoon when the restaurant was deserted. A warm welcome from the two ladies behind the counter and they quickly found us a seat. I ordered fish and chips and watched while a fresh piece of fish was lightly battered and placed in the fryer, it was served piping hot and tasted sublime. My... More

Having decided to spend the last day of our family holiday in Whitehaven, it was a given we would have fish and chips for lunch. Despite it being a lovely hot day, we decided it'd be best to eat inside so we weren't at the mercy of the gulls circling overhead! The lady in Arrighi's was lovely - very funny... More

Just popped for a bowl of chips. They were gorgeous. Fresh and so tasty. Worth going as best chips I've had for ages

The atmosphere in the restaurant is brilliant and the food and service lived up to it. Good portions and all freshly cooked. A little gem.

We called in here for Fish and Chips by the Sea. We were very hungry so were not in a fussy mood. The Chips were Brown some had no filling in they seemed like yesterdays re-heated. They were also tasteless. The fish batter was slimy and fell off when we picked up the fish. The patty was a piece of... More

Had a few hours to kill on Friday so thought we'd stop and have some fish and chips. Never seen anything like it. Orange/ brown tasteless chips looked liked they had been fried more than once. Fish batter was orangey and soggy, almost like wrinkly play -doh. Had to throw it away as it was truly revolting. Not sure how... More

There are a couple of decent chippy's in Whitehaven but Arrighis is the one we always return to especially as Crosbys have now left the building. Have never had a bad meal here - chips have always been freshly made when we've been in and the fish freshly cooked, juicy and succulent with friendly staff treating you like long lost... More

We went in on Halloween and were greeted by scary and Mary (not their real names I hasten to add) who were dressed to the nines in the spirit of halloween. At least they assured me they didn't usually dress to impress like this on a Saturday afternoon. We couldn't have had a more warm and friendly welcome. The food... More

This is a real gem of a fish and chip restaurant, close to the harbour. There are several small rooms all with character. The fish is superb, sea fresh. This family have been perfecting their fish frying skills for four generations. Not to be missed when in this pearl of a town.

This is a character listed property of over 400 year old that has recently undergone a major re-furbishment. With a new commercial kitchen, contemporary style furniture, restored original wooden flooring from the deck of a ship and hand painted murals, this is a family business of over 105 years old that is one, if not the oldest, in the Lake District. During the day, downstairs we are a fully licensed bistro style restaurant with traditional Italian style take away fish & chips. In the evening, by prior arrangement, we open to offer a private dining experience. We are not like the other restaurants in the area with a large busy bar. Our ambition is to remain very small and exclusive. We can cater for between 2 and 12 people each evening with the facility becoming yours. For larger parties, you have your own chief and waitress. We offer a standard menu but prefer to design a menu of seafood and steaks as you prefer. We offer a fine wine list, some beers and a selection of fine Scottish malt whiskey.
