We visited in October this year on three occasions - twice just for drinks and once for food. The atmosphere was cozy and friendly - a cracking fire was burning in the main room and the beer (Flat Cap) was delicious. On the one occasion we had food it was lovely - vegetable balti for me and steak pie for... More

And I felt compelled to write up a review, because a year later, I still salivate over the meat pie that I had.

On arrival the bar was busy with understandably happy clientel, all happily chatting. The room I was shown to by the very friendly and helpful young lady far exceeded rooms I have paid almost twice as much for in Cumbria. Arrived late, but my reserved table was kept so was still able to enjoy the well cooked and presented meal,... More

Whale or Fish that was the debate my Wife and myself had when our fish and chips was served to us in this quaint village pub, it was superb, great batter on the fish. To make this experience even better there was a great selection of beers served by very friendly people who could not do enough for you to... More

Had the pleasure of having a meal with my family the other evening. Arrived at the Red Lion on spec, (potentially always fraught with risk), only to be welcomed by a friendly landlord, varied menu, with plenty of specials & real vegetables. Above all, for me anyway, was a nice choice of good keg beer. We all made our choices... More

Called in on the offchance, 2 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs and we were put in the 'back room' because of the dogs. The Back Room was tired and dingy but seemed clean enough and was empty other than ourselves. The main bar was busier, probably 20 people and a dog in there, but not sure why we got stuck... More
