My husband decided to stop here for our "half way house cuppa" on our day out. The menu was varied from jacket tatties, sandwiches, Panini's etc... but no prawns :-( to my disappointment...but it didn't take me long to find the "cake" menu. There is such a large selection of cakes/tray bakes/scones that it was hard to choose only 1.... More

Often go for coffee. Coffee scone with butter, clotted cream and jam cost £8 for two pople. Coffee is toppped up when empty! What's not to like. The meals are good quality and value for money and there is entertainment at the weekends, It gets busy on Sundays at lunch time so go early. The gallery on its own is... More

Mae's Tea Rooms is a great place to discover when in the area, friendly and welcoming. Whether for the excellent bacon sandwiches or an evening meal it's a place I will go out of my way to visit again

It is sometime since I visited this restaurant however I believe it is still as friendly as I remember. The food is fresh and good value for money. There is a selection of arts and crafts on display at affordable prices. A good place to meet with friends for coffee or for lunch

This lovely cafe is warm and welcoming. The old school house is an interesting building and doubles as a gallery. We wanted an afternoon snack and shared an delicious (and generous) coronation chicken sandwich and I couldn't resist a slice of Victoria spine, which was excellent. The higher chairs and tables enabled us to make the best of the views... More

After walking we called in Mae's Tea Rooms & Gallery for afternoon tea, scones and Victoria Sandwich cake. It was so good we went back the next day after another walk

We had a very warm welcome at Mae's. The gallery was full of interesting and varied paintings and craft works which pleasantly while away the time as we waited for our freshly made sandwiches. Thoroughly recommended for light snacks (and big main meals if you are not going for a walk!)

So cosy around the huge log burner, refills on your coffee, delish cakes and scones etc. Soup was excellent and just what we needed after trudging through the marsh in the snow. Amazing for those liking crafts too - a real find :)

Friendly tearooms with surprisingly extensive menu, including veggie choices. The schoolroom setting is lovely, and it also serves as a gallery for local artists/crafts. Best of all, it's dog friendly. Thanks to the three women in Ireby who pointed us in this direction when we were desperately looking for somewhere to eat!

Lovely atmosphere. Owners have made the most of an old school house. Food a good price and friendly service. Sign posted well and easy access. Lots of local art and crafts available for sale. good to browse around. In the winter months there is a wood burning stove with comfy chairs to sit around it.
