Called in the dog friendly Pennington Hotel for an evening meal in the bar. There was a good selection of beers and lagers on offer and a large menu and specials board. The staff all appeared to be young and female and were smart and cheerful. I chose the 7 oz burger with relish. It came with a bucket of... More

Go go go to this restaurant.... Modern surrounding excellent food ( we had the lamb stew) which was delicious and filling. Again with a modern presentation. Variety of food on offer. Menu written in the dialect "tha' knows". Staff welcoming and helpful. Service quick and with a smile... Can't speak highly enough of this place.

Stayed here during my wedding weekend. Everything was fantastic apart from one small thing - when we were getting ready we discovered there was no full length mirror in our room. Breakfast was a little slow but we weren't in any rush. Lovely place, great location. Definitely be back.

Good bed with great mattress; big bathroom with thick towels; pleasant sitting room and comfortable bar. What more could one want? Oh yes, and it is a magical setting with the estuary of the Esk stretched out in front of the hotel and the charming main street of the village alongside. The only problem we had was the food was... Lovely hotel, the staff are amazing. Food great. Rooms clean and although small, are very nice. A quirky setting - like stepping back in time.

This was our third visit to the Pennington and again we were not disappointed. The staff are really friendly, courteous and efficient. The room was fairly large, clean and well appointed. As was the bathroom with the added bonus of lovely toiletries. It is worth going to the hotel just for the food. Breakfast is a mix of help yourself... More

Took the miniature steam train from Boot to Ravenglass and we were slightly disappointed to find not much at all in Ravenglass except for 2 hotels- everything else was shut! Pleasantly surprised with lunch here though, nice food, decent portions and friendly staff. Would recommend.

Went here after poor service at the Ratty Arms, lovely meal, bit different not your standard pub grub meal. Reasonably priced and good service.
