Dog friendly. Lovely good. Very good indeed. Lovely inside. Our only gripe was the x mas lights. They were everywhere, and flashing and not ideal for wanting to relax. However, the food is great. We have the steak surf and turf and I had the chicken surf and turf. Both were excellent. Lovely location too.

Stayed in Broughton for a week and really enjoyed it. Great pubs ,café ,bakery and restaurants all within 150m of our cottage We enjoyed the varied food and obliging staff during visits to the BCI,the extra mile was achieved by the chef, when he sourced an excelent fillet of Sea Bass especially for my wife when we commented she was a... We visited today for lunch and the food was great & arrived quickly. Ordered coffee which didn't arrive and had to ask to have it taken off the bill but it was busy! Would def return next time we are in Broughton!

Our first tadventure in Cumbria, driving through all the towns, stopped for lunch at the Black Cock Inn, Food was excellent, priced reasonably, fast service, clean, friendly staff. Stopped there mostly because the place looked like it was really old and quaint, staff said the place was built in 1600's, a neat place to stop for lunch.

Great food and beer, had lunch here, fish and chips and the lamb burger, lovely. Good choice of beer and wine. Dogs more than welcome even when we were eating. Good old fashioned pub.

Booked in for Sunday lunch as we were staying in the area. It was not overly busy. It took a while to get served a drink. I had the roast beef which was ok, but did not have that wow factor when it arrived. The service was good during the meal.

This pub is a little gem. Ate there twice and each time the food was fantastic. I would even go as far as to say the scampi is some of the best I have ever had! It's a small pub, so in peak season it's definitely worth booking a table but it's cosy and has a friendly atmosphere. The staff... More

Came in at lunchtime for a pint before moving on to the Pass and was immediately greeted with 'are you going to be wanting food?' which seemed a little over the top before even having a drink poured. Explained we had had a huge breakfast so were not ready yet. Asked for recommendations re beer as I had not heard... More

We tried to eat here last year when on holiday but we're too late for service. Ended up eating kebabs in the car! But it was well worth the wait. Excellent food, value for money & very friendly staff. Perfect way to celebrate getting engaged.

My wife and I called in early evening with 2 dogs (who were welcomed readily) and offered a cosy table despite not having booked. Good menu, plenty of choice and interesting specials' I had the lamb burger... now I'm a big chap with a hearty appetite especially after a day out walking in the Lake District, and I was almost...
