A perfect cozy place to seek refuge from the Coast to Coast trail in a pouring rain! Very cozy old world feeling in the pub with other friendly hiking-boot clad guests. I cannot remember what I had for dinner, but I do recall that it...More

I would have given them 5 stars as it was a lovely homemade meal. Lasagna was best I’ve ever tried. The niggling thing was we had pate starters and the chutney came in a chipped bowl! Apart from that well worth a try

Visited after a very wet walk on the coast to coast and felt there was a reasonable choice of real ales and a decent bar menu for a Sunday with nicely cooked food

Good friendly local pub, food is basic, inexpensive and plenty of it. No juke box or telly and the WIFI is dodgy so you actually have to speak to people! A radical departure from most pubs these days! The beer's not bad either!

Food was ok but cold with the exception of the raw cabbage which was extremely poor. The actual place is very tired and quite dirty. The highchair my daughter was given hadn't been wiped down in a long time. We were the only people in...More
