A very quaint and traditional bar, serving great food and a wide range of local ale! A welcome place after a long walk with a real fire. Hospitality second to none. You won't be disappointed

We called into the Shepherds Arms when we arrived into Ennerdale Bridge after walking from St Bees. First stop on the Coast to Coast. We were soAking wet but that didn't deter the lady behind the bar welcoming us and taking our wet weather gear and hanging in their drying room till we were ready to leave. We booked a... More

Stopped off midday for lunch - really lovely way to end an morning at Ennerdale Service was friendly and helpful and the portion sizes generous - there is also a quite varied menu and although we only wanted a sandwich, there were more bigger meals available even at lunch time.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly and when my husband told her he hadn't tried two of the tap beers, she poured two samples for him to try, one of which he then had a pint of. The lady (I think one of the owners) was very informative about... More

We ate at the Shepherds Arms for two evenings when we stayed in Ennerdale. It has a lovely comfortable atmosphere, great choice of meals, delicious food and well prepared. We will certainly go there again when we revisit the area.

Stopped on a bike ride for a nice snack , no other customers which was a surprise as it was 1:30 but during the week so might have been the reason. Lady was not the most friendly person , placed our order and asked for skinny chips - " sorry we do not do them only normal chips". So I... More

Good beer and food. This attracts locals and visitors alike. Staff are friendly and I enjoyed some craic with the lady behind the bar. A nice place to dine. Or just kicking back socialising and drinking the ale.

A party of 8 enjoyed the most wonderful meal. Not the ordinary pub food but really excellent dishes as in a good restaurant. We were satisfied to finish our first stage of C2C with such delicious food. (Belgian party)
