Called on spec on a Friday evening in July. Place was busy but we found a table. Placed our order with minimum fuss then waited over 40 mins to be served. Food was very good value and well presented, the chef obviously knows his stuff. Worthy of a second visit 😀

Jules and I decided to try the Duke of Portland. From the road it doesn't look it's best but pull into the spacious car park everything changes. We visited on a Friday evening and there was a solo guitar singer playing, he was great and made it really feel specrial. Despite it being quiet in the pub it felt good.... More

The menu appeared fairly run of the mill, but when the dishes came they were really very, very good and not at all mundane. Enough choice to suit most tastes, including vegetarian. Outside seating too at the side, but the back area needs work. Looks to be "work i progress". Service very good also. Plenty of parking.

Ate here with my partner on a Sunday night. The place was virtually deserted when we got there but the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had asparagus and cajun potatoes for starters. the asparagus was good but 4 stems was a bit stingy. The cajun potatoes were OK. As a main course my partner had fish and chips... More

For a Saturday evening, we were surprised at how quiet the place was. There was live music which was really nice but wasted on such a small group of clientele. I had the crayfish and prawn cocktail to start which was really good - lots of seafood. My partner had the soup and said it was very tasty. For mains... More

myself, my boyfriend and his parents booked a table for 7pm. The pub was approximately 1/4 full and remained this way for the duration of our 2 hours here. Within 2 hours we had 4 mains and 4 desserts.. I think if we hadn't been so hungry we would have left.. It took approx 45 mins from ordering to be... More

Lunch with a small group of friends, we tried the Duke of Portland on a recommendation from one of the group. To be honest, from the menu I expected fairly generic pub food but the burger I had showed every sign of not having come from a catering pack. The coffee was poor, though. The lady who served us was... More

We popped in here early one Saturday evening, restaurant was quiet. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely Devine. All four mains ordered were delicious and everyone was happy. My husband ordered the risotto as its one of his favourite meals, but it has to be cooked properly or it can be disaster and he always says I make... More

My wife booked to celebrate a birthday. Welcome was very friendly but service was slow, especially for drinks which took ages to arrive. I ordered a steak which was very good & you should expect to wait if cooked fresh, however was not offered a sauce (which I realised when steak arrived). For a pudding I ordered brownie with ice...
