About
The Vicarage; Freehouse & Rooms is a 17th Century Grade II listed country pub & hotel - essentially a restaurant with rooms. We are foodie-hub with a locally sourced menu - everything is driven by the gardeners, foragers, farmers and suppliers of Cheshire. The Vicarage takes its inspiration from the Cheshire countryside, utilising British produce and resources while championing eco-sustainability. The menus change depending on the seasons and what can be sourced locally. All our rooms echo our own country-boutique style ... but not overdone. We strip out any unnecessary nonsense and focus on everything that matters for a quality stay. A comfy bed, all have en-suite facilities, great decor, quality

We came here for an evening meal without a booking but were pleasantly surprised there was an available table for us. We had a nice cocktail before dinner and they looked and tasted amazing. We ordered starters and mains and the food came right on...time. The pâté is delicious and the steak is to die for. Definitely recommend medium rare to enjoy the flavor. Special thanks to Tereza for making our evening so great. Brilliant service and food. Will definitely be back.More

Went here tonight as a surprise for my partners birthday along with our 2 children. We had driven past many times and said it looked nice and that one day we should try it. I had booked online and checked the menus beforehand. There was...a specific children’s menu on the website with 3 courses, which suited us well. When we arrived and were seated we were given just the adult menus. When I asked about the children’s menu off the website I was directed to a small square on the main menu with a choice of 3 main dishes only for the children. We eventually had someone come and take our drinks order which arrived quickly afterwards. They then came back quite a while later for our food order, the children weren’t happy about the soup choice given so we asked for a few minutes to decided. We ordered a starter for the adults and crisps for the children as there was no suitable starter for them on this menu. We waited for an extremely long time for the starters to arrive. In the meantime we had asked for another drink which was forgotten about (an hour later it arrived after a gentle reminder to the staff). The starters were “ok” nothing to write home about. They were finished quickly (we were very hungry) but the plates weren’t taken away for a significant time. When the waitress came and took them she said “are you finished with your starters”….well yes a long time ago! We waited, and we waited and we waited for our food. I eventually got up and found a waiter to ask where our mains were, who disappeared off not to be seen again. I then got up again and went to the bar to ask about our food…we were an hour and half since arriving at this point. The server said he would check in the kitchen and come back, I stood and waited for him. Another waitress then asked if she could help me, only for me to realise the previous server had left me at the bar and taken food to the table. When the food eventually arrived it was “warm” not hot, the chips on the children’s plates were the hottest thing on the table. I wish I had read some of the tripadvisor reviews beforehand about how slow the service was or how food was forgotten…this seems to have been our experience and it ruined what should of been a nice birthday meal. We were in the conservatory area, so not the main bar area, however there were waitresses hovering around constantly sorting tables and laying out candles, they would of seen us waiting and also the empty starter plates. It wasn’t busy enough to warrant the wait we had either. Overall we are extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend the restaurant to any of our friends. Over 2 hours from arriving to finally eating and leaving as soon as we could had ruined the birthday treat and put us off returning.More

Served by a nice fellow called James K (its on the reciept). I walked down with my dad to give the vicarage a try, we sat out back which felt pleasent and secluded. we ordered the beef brisket loaded fries and OMG i think they...are supposed to serve 3 people (on a side note i think chicken may be the best option for loaded fries). Food wasn't the quickest but the weather was nice and the service was happy to go get more drinks or check up on the food which was nice. the bill for 2 people plus drinks was £26.60 TLDR: Food and drink is good and not overpriced, the location is nice and the staff pleasent... just dont go in a rushMore
