Very average roast lunch, mound of food but lacking in variety of vegetables and lacklustre service. The wagyu burger was over cooked. The service was poor, not well trained and inattentive. I felt too many covers for number of waiting staff to give them attention....More

Writing this makes me feel sad as I’ve always loved The Merlin and go there regularly. However, I’d say the last five or six times I’ve been (so clearly not a one off) the service has been terrible. If ordering two courses, you can expect...More

We had lunch at the Merlin on Sunday 15 July with a friend. We both had a main course, a dessert and a coffee each, and different dishes. We both enjoyed the food and our lunch. Several years ago, we used to go to the...More

We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a more positive experience with us at The Merlin. It is upsetting to read that you did not enjoy the food and that it was not up to our usual standards. I do hope that...More

We were staying here for one night, and decided to eat here, despite the "negative" comments and reviews. The service we were witnessing, and food seemed decent enough for us. We had a couple of drinks sitting outside, and 2 cocktails from the 2 for...More

I’ve been to the Merlin countless times since 2005 and never had a bad meal. I love that the menu is always changing and the interior refurbished regularly. This time I had the superfood salad with goat’s curd and my husband had lamb kofta, we...More

I'm not sure, but if you call them they are very helpful. it's a lovely village. The Drum and Monkey did great food and I believe it has a nice outside area (if we ever get any decent weather) good luck

Yes, it has a little bar area too if you're not eating but if you are eating I would book in as it gets busy. It has a nice relaxed vibe about the place too.
