We had a superb lumch today in this lovely child and dog-friendly garden. Extensive menu catering for all. My daughter-in-law is vegetarian but does eat fish. Haddock cooked to perfection as was my son's roast pork with all the trimmings (yum!) My white crab prawn and smoked salmon salad looked a picture and was delicious. Couldn't resist the strawberry cheesecake... More

21 adults enjoyed an early evening meal which we had pre ordered. The food was delicious, the portions were generous and the service was friendly and efficient. We were provided with a private area of the pub. A wide choice of meals were ordered and the staff coped well in serving them promptly. We will return.

We had a pleasant lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My elderly mother has a nut allergy and is not allowed alcohol and the staff did not put the sauce on the fish on our request and advised us one of the dips had nuts in it. We shared a platter and enjoyed the fish dishes. The steak was... More

I have been to the Hit or Miss many times with family or friends. Today I had Sunday Lunch with a group of 20 people. The roast meals were plentiful but most people complained that the roast pork or beef was tough and the vegetables and gravy rather tasteless. However there was a good choice of tasty deserts. I enjoyed scoops... More

We visited the Hit or Miss last week to sample their new menu - we have been many times before and were not disappointed. All three courses were excellent with generous portions. The bar and restaurant area is wheelchair accessible but there is a small step at the front door approx 4 ins which is easily negotiated. The owner and... More

Visited the Hit or Miss on a Saturday for a "light" lunch but it was difficult to keep it light after glancing at the dessert menu (see pic!) To begin, I went for a favourite of mine; grilled asparagus wrapped in prosciutto topped with a poached egg, it's a starter option which can be doubled up as a main which... More

We were passing through the area and decided to stop here for lunch. So glad we did. We both had cheese dishes, Camembert and goats cheese. Presentation was excellent as was the quality of the food. Staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely return, this time as a destination rather than just passing through.

We went for an impromptu dinner with the family. A beautiful sunny evening and we sat outside enjoying the peace and quiet and summer evening sun. The service was impeccable, food delicious, lovely choice of ales and varied and the whole evening was delightful. The staff even put on the outdoor heater as the evening cooled. I highly recommend!!!

First went to the Hit and Miss several years ago when we had a cold main courses. This was a far better experience. Walked through the door this time and from start to finish had superb service from a young and energetic staff. The important point is that the food was of a high quality. My wife had the chicken...
