So the food at this place is crazy good. Crazy. True authentic French cuisine. Last time we ate here I gave it a 5 plus plus. I think we hit them on a weird night - out of scallops out of ice cream and the...waiter didn’t tell us about the shrimp bisque special. My fish en papiollette was the best thing I may have eaten this year. My husbands beef Wellington was very good - the lack of scallops changed some dishes and of course banana foster isn’t the same without vanilla ice cream! Please go to this restaurant !!!More

Had supper last week at an amazing Restaurant on Marathon Key, FL. It not easy to get to on the second-floor of a 1954 built Old Key Resort but the stairs are worth the climb. There you will find a wonderful French restaurant. The food...was in creditable and the wine list was deep. Hopefully, you will be there when the Chef makes her carrot cake, which was the best I 've had in my 75 years. Unless you want to dine early make a reservation well in advance. Early dining is easier to get. If you haven't made your reservations to stay on Marathon Key consider the Rainbow Curve Resort were the Restaurant is located.More

We were in the Keys for six nights, looking for nice restaurants to eat at each night; being foodies, great restaurants are always a highlight of our vacations. The Hideaway Cafe was the best we found in the Keys on our trip. Much of the...menu was French inspired, but not in a pretentious way, and there were plenty of seafood and more traditional American options, along with some other unexpected entrees, like the British classic, Beef Wellington. It was hard to decide what to get because there were so many things I wanted to try; I could easily eat here several nights, but alas our vacation was ending. The location was unexpected, being in an old resort, but apparently the place has been around for 30+ years, probably when the resort was new. It’s a testament to the quality of the food, how long the restaurant has been around. Don’t let the location turn you away; once inside, we enjoyed the character, especially once we tasted the food. And the wait staff were very friendly and attentive. If you’re ever in the Keys and looking for a quality restaurant - not your usual tourist trap with mediocre food - give the Hideaway Cafe a try. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed.More

Very interesting evening we had. First finding the place is a bit of a challenge but once we found it we were immediately seated. The room itself is relatively small which is fine if you have multiple diners but on the night we went there...was one family that took up all but one table and guess which table we ended up at. It's not the restaurants fault but I wish they would have told me they had a large party because I could have gone a different night. Other than feeling like we crashed the Griswalds family reunion the food was fantastic and our server was great. I'd go there again but would make sure I ask how the room is booked that nightMore

Our 1st experience at this amazing restaurant was many years ago. We returned to celebrate our anniversay and my wife's birthday. We dined on shrimp bisque, onion soup and each of us had Beef Wellington prepared our own way and they were amazing! We had...a great bottle of Cab, a 2014 Bressler's and a custom made desert prepared by Chef Freda. When we arrived she informed us that a few servers didn't show up for work and that did not impact our dining experience. She & her team were amazing even with those challenges. If you are ever down in the Marathon Key area, you must make a reservation for a wonderful dining experience. Thanks Chef Freda! John A.More

What a bizarre experience. Legitimately the worst service. Upon arrival we were greeted in a room with a “bar” and were informed by the chef that things are running behind and we should go “take a walk” and come back later. This room - in...complete disarray. About 60 bottles of wine on the bar only leaving two seats open. Cardboard boxes everywhere. Questionably clean at best. In hindsight, we should have taken this as a sign and just left, but the reviews insisted this was a hidden romantic gem, so we decided to stay and wait. We watched multiple tables seat and then finally it was our time. No apologies for the wait as we were handed our menus at around 8:15pm for a 7:30 reservation. Is this place operated out of an old condo living room? The food was acceptable, however, the overall experience is a very far cry from “fine dining”. I had to use my wife’s salad fork to eat my entree, as the waiter dropped off the food and didn’t return to our table for a while. Never was afforded the option to order dessert or coffee at the end of the meal. I’m not sure if the chef was actually cooking or just making victory laps around the “dining room”. Unfortunately, this review is failing to encapsulate all of the levels at which this restaurant failed miserably. There were multiple times my wife and I looked at each other and wondered is this was some sort of elaborate joke. Frankly, I don’t want to even write about this experience anymore. The $$$ we dropped at this “fine dining” establishment is now only worth the stories of how horrible this experience was. Do yourself a favor and run, don’t walk, away from this establishment.More

Once again Hideaway Cafe did not disappoint. Warm tasty bread to start and a very crisp, fresh salad. Hogfish francaise was cooked perfectly with potato and steamed vegetables. The seafood medley with shrimp, scallops and hogfish tossed in a flamingo sauce over angel hair pasta...was fantastic. For dessert we had the bananas flambe' and the key lime raspberry mousse. Overall was the best dinner and location of the week. Wanda and her staff were over the top excellent and made us feel like VIPs all evening.More

What a charming venue - quaint, run down, seemingly frozen in the 1950’s. But the food! We both had hogfish, prepared different ways, and we both loved it. A nice wine selection, a few beers (no liquor) and tasty desserts round out the menu. Sinatra...on the stereo and a clientele that has clearly been eating there for decades all added to the charm. Don’t expect fancy, but you can expect tasty.More

We came here based on a recommendation… and we feel so lucky we did! Very unassuming, no sign or indication the restaurant is even at the motel! We arrived a bit unsure of where we were or what we were in for… But the food...and service were excellent! This was the best dinner we had during our stay in the keys. We had an incredible seat on the porch overlooking the water. The lovely and talented chef came by our table to check in. Make a point to dine at this unique spot.More
