We had a lunch and dinner here. Same menu, but the food was good and a fair price. The grounds look lush. We were not permitted to walk beyond the restaurant for the security of the guests. We would consider staying here the next time we are in the area. The only drawback is no a.c. Not a problem in... More

Thank you for your comments and happy you enjoyed your meals with us.... yes we had a very full house yesterday. I am looking to employ more staff so the two boys are not rushed off their feet.... Actually they like it this way ... and never complain... They did nt want you to feel neglected out on the patio... More

We ate both lunch and dinner at the Pickled Onion during our trip to Uxmal and the Ruta Puuc. We loved everything about this place: their simple but delicious food made from fresh ingredients, the patio seating with beautiful garden views, and their friendly waitstaff. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge, so it's a great value! There... More

Thank you for your visit ... not once but twice... thank you Just to mention many people are surprised that the advocado soup actually does not contain cream.... they are just pure ingredients.... the only cream there is is what you see on top as adornments .... and it is quite filling.... this is my own récipe so I am... Several years ago my husband and I stayed overnight at the Pickled Onion while visiting Uxmal. We decided to have lunch there last week as we were in the area. The grounds have been beautifully landscaped and the setting is lovely. I ordered the gazpacho soup and the presentation was gorgeous! However, the taste left a lot to be desired.... More

To go short: very friendly staff, good food (enough choice for multiple days), clean place with nice terrace. Can recommend to anyone to go dining here.

We've traveled in this area each of the past three winters and can say, unequivocally, that the Pickled Onion is *the* place to eat in and around Santa Elena/Uxmal. There is a real (and very, very good) chef, who turns out amazing dishes all day, and a full & well-tended bar that serves great margaritas. In addition to traditional Yucatan... More

A nice atmosphere and delicious food. Good service and tasty beverages. It's a good place to meet other travelers, since it is part of a hotel.

We came here for a late lunch with a large group. There was ample parking, and the place had an easy ambiance. As with many of these places, the dining room is more of an open porch - which was not a problem. There were a several other couples having lunch as well - but there was very little delay... More

A great welcome, and delicious. Sadly, I ordered fries to go with my salad which was rather lost in translation, but they arrived very quickly when I 're-ordered' and were proper home cooked chips! Staff were very efficient and friendly. Worth a trip.

Thank you for your lovely comments and happy we fullfilled your order of fries that as you say was lost in translation.... this happens somtimes, as some of the staff speak Maya or spanish.... But I appreciate your understanding of the situation Thank you again and I wish for you many more happy travels cheers Valerie More

We only ate here. The food was adequate, lots of choice if you like chicken! My partner had a dry pork dish as was my chicken dish. Our vegetarian friends struggled with choice. Only 1 bottle each of white and red wine which was pleasant.

So sorry you were disappointed with your meal . Apart from pork and chicken we do have beef as in albondigas con heirbabuena or fajitas de res . Also we do have ample vegetarian dishes but one has to realize in Mexico it is mainly meat and it is a struggle to find in this area vegetarian dishes . Also... More

We loved the Chaya dish! Excellent quality food. The soups are all vegetarian, which was awesome. The Greek salad was also excellent. Our boys like the grilled cheese sandwich, which was not on the menu, but they were able to accommodate.
