Right behind the turtle museum and Akumal bay beach, the thatched roof room is not hard to miss, as it is on the way to the beach famous for sea turtles. They are moving the ecocina to the middle of akumal town soon, around the basetball court. We went to Imelda's several times in our stay in the town, and... More

We only went to Imelda's for breakfast, and it was very tasty. We had French Toast, Heuvos con Chorizo and Omelette con Jamon y queso. They were all very good. The entire place is very quaint and sweet. The server was kind and even brought a sample of juice to for us to try at no charge, because they were... More

a very limited menu in a nice surrounding right by the beach. The food is home made and tasty-- just a bit expensive for what you get. I am more used to the prices in my home area of Mexico which are more reasonable for food of this type. The prices here must be tagged to the rise of the... More

A guy from Michigan told us about this place and that it had the best French Toast. We decided to go and we all had French Toast. It was definitely the second best I have ever had - the first being my own, which is very awesome. It is just a simple place and you will see Imelda cooking in... More

Pleasant surprise located just to the left of the entrance to the Akumal Diving Center. This grass shack will surprise you with high quality food at a reasonable price. Don't let the look of this place deter you. Check out the chalkboard menu of daily specials. The cooks definitely know what they are doing. Authentic Mexican cuisine you would never... More

We were told to make sure to stop here for breakfast after snorkeling at Akumal bay. Huevos Rancheros was amazing and portions were generous. Would highly suggest stopping here. Right at the entrance to the Ecocentral of Akumal. Heard she will be moving, but still in Akumal.

We visit Akumal twice a year and always have lunch at Imelda's. The price is reasonable, the food is local home cooking, and the service is great. My favorite is the fish fillet with rice and beans. Delicious.

A very simple eatery with a small menu. Good home cooking and quick friendly service. No frills but enjoyed the simplicity. Chicken fajitas with rice and beans made a light lunch between snorkel sessions.

We visited Imelda's on a Tuesday night. There were 4 of us, and we all ordered different things. Everything was very good, and Imelda and her staff were so friendly and accommodating. We wanted to try some authentic Mayan food this trip, so Imelda offered to prepare some Chicken Pibil for us if we agreed to return on Thursday. We... More
