The ambiance was great as was the service. La Gruta is behind gate #5 and can be reached walking after a great day at Teotihuacan. The food was tasty and interesting since it had names typical of the region. I would recommend going for the food and ambiance - located within a cave of all places!. Service was great.

My wife and I have eaten here before, we ate dinner here on June 6 & 7, 2016, and we'll eat here again. Fabulous. As you may know, this restaurant opened in 1906. And while it is popular with the tourists who visit the nearby archaeological zone of Teotihuacán, it is not a tourist trap. The food and drinks are... More

There is no place on or in the earth as this restaurant. The food choices are exotic as is the location. Service could be better but they try to please.

Eat in a cave? And the food's good? Yep, it is. You gotta go. I tried the mole and it was excellent. A trip to the pyramids in Teotihuacan is not complete without La Gruta.

Perfect place for a lunch after visiting Teotihuacan, where there are dozens of big restaurants catering to tourist groups. The setting of La Gruta, in a partially open roof ancient volcano cave is a plus. Typical Mexican food, folkloric music and a mystique atmosphere. Do not miss trying the escamoles (ant eggs), chinicuiles (red worms) and chapulines (grasshoppers): all wonderfully... More

Went there on sunday for dinner time and the lady writing the waiting list said we had to wait for an hour and a half, but in 20 mins got our tabs. The food is not tasty, the waiters made a lots of mistakes, the entrée came out last for example. There was a folk ballet performing for half an... More

This old cave has been transformed in a restaurant, with more than a siecle of tradition, the restaurant serves mexican food (central Mexico tastes), so if you want to try various plates you should ask for Platon Mexicano, with mole, tamal, taco dorado de pollo, arroz y frijoles. The prices and the amoubt of food by person are fair.
