Excellent venue, food and service… Very tasty food and generous portions… I highly recommend this fine restaurant to anyone looking for great food and ambience…. We will definitely go back again… Located in Ajijic, and street parking is safe and no problem…. Reservations are required...at least 2 days in advance…. It’s a worthwhile dining experience… Mario Okunsky, AjijicMore

I shouldn't let people in on my little secret, or I might never be able to get a table there again. (Will be back next week, Ricardo!) Though maybe now that they've opened the upstairs dining, I'll still be able to. You know how sometimes...food looks beautiful, and sometimes food tastes great - but rarely both in the same dish? Not here! The food that comes out of Gloria's kitchen is as worthy of photographs as it of a fine dining experience (without any of the pretentiousness). Everything I've had here, from cocktails to appetizers to entrees to dessert, is stunning and delicious. E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G!More

There were six of us, and we tried pretty everything on the menu. Salmon with pistachio mole and tequila risotto were the standouts, but every dish was delicious and unusual. Don't be afraid of the corn fungus soup! Basil margarita was incredible. Super friendly staff....We sat upstairs on the balcony, which I recommend. A++++More

Their Chile en Nogada was the best I've ever had. It's a poblano Chile stuffed with a savory mixture of ground meat, dried fruit and various types of crunchy nuts and pumpkin seeds; giving this meat filling a perfect touch of sweetness and crunch. Served...on a puddle of creamy walnut sauce , steamed asparagus and elegantly garnished with fresh pansies, petals and pomegranate seeds. The rice was tasty and perfect. This dish represents the colors of the Mexican flag and is usually very popular around September 16th, Mexican Independence day. I am Mexican and highly recommend this traditional, gourmet dish. My husband had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and said it was great. If I lived close by, I would definitely keep going back. Service was great, decor festive, atmosphere relaxed and friendly.More

We live in Ajijic and have been to just about every restaurant. Teocintle is our very favorite. So much variety, deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. Upstairs space is open air, downstairs is light and bright with open shutters for lots of fresh air. Food offerings...vary, but always true to their traditional Mexican roots. Not 'TexMex'...authentic Mexican cuisine. So good!!! Great margaritas, too. 👍❤More

My husband and I are in Ajijic for the summer. From Chapala to Jocotopec, lakeside has an amazing number of very good restaurants. Teocintle Maiz has become our go-to place to eat. With Gloria at the helm in the kitchen, Ricardo overseeing the front and...service with Rodrigo and Alajandra Teocintle has all of the bases covered. The creative menu changes monthly. I've been eating lots of fish this summer. I'm ready to write a corrido (Mexican ballad) about last night's Pargo fillet (snapper) with Green Mole wrapped in Acuyo (holy leaf) served on green mole mirror. I don't know what to say other than, order this! My husband went for the Chef's Shrimp cooked with bacon, garlic and shrimp. In his words...fabulous. All of this with a terrific presentation in a lovely setting with easy parking. All Covid protocols in place.More

We had a family members wedding catered by Teocintle Maiz. They did a phenomenal job. Food was so delicious. There was a variety of different styles of Mexican food to suit all tastes. They also had a table decorated beautifully with typical Mexican candy, very...unique. Cannot recommend enough.More

Dinner at Teocintle Maiz yesterday; arrived at 3:00, other than a delightful glass of water w/berries, we were not served our meal until 4:00. Everything is cooked to order, here comes the “but”. But we should had had some chips or something while waiting. We...had not ordered appetizers because we had ordered what was called the Strong Plates. After a while we realized our mistake, waiting for an hour with just water left something to be desired. No one stopped by until our Strong Plates were delivered. I quickly ordered a glass of white wine, it was warm. The Strong Plates were delicious.More

What a lovely restaurant. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Food was really nice. I made a special order of chicken breast in mole sauce instead of the tacos. They were super nice and made as requested. The chicken breast was so tender despite it...having a wonderful crisp on the outside. The accompanying rice and vegetables were delicious. Veg so fresh and cooked perfectly. My husband had the asparagus soup and the shrimp crusted in amaranth. Both very good. This is a wonderful restaurant with lovely owners/staff. Highly recommended!More
