Makimono is what you would expect, a very average Japanese restaurant. I don't like sushi, so I ordered the General Tao chicken, which was a little fatty, but decent. Paul Wong's is the best Asian restaurant in Pickering, much better than Makimono, and offering Chinese takes on Japanese dishes (such as Teriyaki), and so much better than Makimono.

The service is very good. Food is mediocre for my taste, I have had japanese in different places and this doesn't seem to stand out. Sashimi is so tiny and for an eat all you can restaurant, one sashimi per order is ridiculous. The photos on the tablet menu when ordering and sending the order electronically is something I have... Highly recommend avoiding this location as the servers are rude and watch and comment if you order several dishes to try (management must have asked them to police people's orders). Quality is not as good as other locations. Avoid at all cost.

The food did not exceed the expectations I expected. Having to use a tablet that previous patrons used and it was not cleaned by the staff did not make my dining experience pleasant. I don't know where their hands have been or even if they are clean!

This restaurant is 5 minutes from our home and we have been going here since they opened. In my opinion, the experience has greatly improved since they implemented a tablet at each table for ordering. The décor is great since they renovated, the restaurant is very clean and the food amazing and is always fresh. Overall the Customer Service is... More

Food is great, my favourite miso soup is always good. Their banana desert is the best and waitresses are all attentive. We always go back there when we want to eat Japanese Food.

Been to this place couple of times. Sushi is great and service is great as well. Dinner buffet is a bit expensive. But overall price is good, I would say reasonable.

Visited on Easter Sunday for all you can eat dinner and I must say Makimono has drastically improved! Used to come here when they first opened but quality and service fell so I stopped visiting. It seems there is new management, better servers and an overall warmer environment and efficient service. All Items were delicious, fresh and served extremely quick.... More

We passed by Pickering on Easter Sunday. Meant to stop over to pick up some fish and chips but it was closed. All restaurants in town were close. We settled for this restaurant. The food was bad. I used the ladies room when I got in and found it rather dirty. So I tried to stick with all cooked dishes.... More
