We had the beet salad and a sandwich. Nothing special, but not bad either. Service wasn't great. But it was before the high season so maybe it's better once they get busy.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Grubstake. We chose this place on a whim - and were so glad we did. The service was good, everything we ordered was delicious, and it was reasonably priced.

Great local spot to get a nice meal . The service was friendly and quick. Seems to be a popular spot at supper time, filled up quick.

Food and service were both good. And, although they can't guarantee no cross contamination, they have gluten free bread and will accommodate to the best of their ability.

Had pan fried haddock at this wonderful restaurant after a starter of crab cakes. Really good food and genuinely reasonably priced. Recommended to us by Parker from Heritage House B&B. He was not wrong, he also recommended the Lobster Kettle Restaurant but we chose this one. The staff are friendly and the restaurant sizeable and well presented. Cannot recommend this... More

We were in a rush and there was only one other table. Food came on time, but was certainly nothing to write home about, wife didn't feel inspired to eat it all. Oh and for what we paid, woeful value.

Louisbourg is a culinary desert, particularly for vegetarians. After surveying the town and reading reviews, we settled on the Grubstake. Food is as average as average can be. You won't remember what you ate the next morning (so it isn't necessarily terrible). Had no complaints about the service. Came in an hour before closing time. The place was packed--only one... More

We were fortunate to enjoy homemade lasagnas on a blustery day. It was the last day they are open for the season so the menu was limited but the hospitality was genuine and warming! They reopen in June. A good lunch after enjoying our visit to the Fortress of Louisburg. We left with happy tummies and smiles on our faces!

We stopped in to the Grubstake for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon of the second last weekend of the season. We were the only folks there when we arrived and were warmly welcomed and chose a table by the window overlooking the main street. The rustic furnishings reminded us of places we had visited in Alaska - solid... More

We stopped for lunch and were a bit wary as the exterior wasn't very inviting and there were only two other customers. However we were pleasantly surprised. The waitress couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and the soup, black bean burger and bacon burger were all very tasty.
