There aren't a lot of choices for lunch in Cheticamp, and Le Gabriel was recommended so we gave it a try. The fish and chips were a bit soggy but flavorful, and the Acadian platter (meat pie, fish cake and beans, and soup) was a bit of a mixed bag--the fish cake and soup were flavorful, but the other items... On our recent two week trip to the Canadian Maritimes, we stopped in Cheticamp, NS on the second day on Cape Breton along the Cabot Trail. Other than a magnificent church (St.Pierre's), there's not a heck of a lot to see here. We arrived at Le Gabriel just before Noon and were seated immediately. Walking by the dessert trolley, three... We enjoyed our meal here, good sized portions (we were too full for desert) We were disappointed that there was not live music as advertised, but other than that the experience was good

Check out the pictures of our lovely meal! The restaurant was recommended by the B&B owners we were staying with so we tried it out. We ate in the bar and Corey was very helpful in terms of all the knowledge he had about the menu and food choices. We started with the Acadian platter which was incredible. The fish... More

This restaurant offers both a restaurant dining room and attached pub where food is served. We ate in the pub and found the food to be average pub food. They do offer a few select Acadian style dishes on the menu. Pub is large and decorated in a sport theme.

I think the frozen vegetables tell the tale. Quite a large place, clearly busy, but our meal was uninspiring. I'd suggest looking elsewhere for your dinner or lunch.

We visiting Le Gabriel when we couldn't get into one of the local higher end restaurants and were a bit weary of the look (i.e. very touristy looking) as we prefer authentic experiences. However, Le Gabriel was massive with two "experiences" you could choose from - the bar (pool table/etc...) or the restaurant. Food turned out great, reasonably priced, perfect... More
