This visit was an improvement over last year's. The menu must have been tweaked a little and was not as heavy on beans and rice. I had a Taco Trio (chicken, fish, pulled pork) which was super-tasty, with real guacamole. Hubster had something chicken and it came with a side of beans. (What is it with Mexican places they never... More

Had a lovely meal here, sitting on the station platform and watching a train go by. Had a really good Ice Tea with frozen raspberries in it, a first for me but thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Would go back.

A great little restaurant by the side of the railway track which serves Mexican food. The atmosphere and service is great, and great to have a change from burgers and chips. The food was good and reasonably priced. It provides a great alternative to the other choices available in the town.

The good news...this is a very cool building and atmosphere. The bad news is that the food is bland and poorly seasoned. The rice and beans had no seasoning. The chicken street tacos had stale corn tortillas and just chicken. No sauce, no cilantro, onion, nothing. And just a bit of salsa and sour cream on the side. Not authentic... More

Our executive Chef has indeed been to mexico many, many times & has most certainly eaten the cuisine. Our philosophy is FRESH, we would never serve a tortilla or anything else, that wasn't. Had you perused our menu further, you might have found exactly what you were looking for. We have MANY taco choices that are filled with sauce, onion... More

I think the Trackside Cantina is one of the best places in Smithers to eat. While other places have their ups and downs and change owners the Cantina seems wonderfully consistent. Mexican, obviously, but fresh, tasty, and affordable. What more could you want?

I had only been to one other Mexican resturant before so was not really keen on going. But what a wonderful meal I had and such good service. Highly recomended

I love ordinary Mexican food - chile rellenos, enchiladas etc. - so I was a little disappointed to find that the Cantina had a fancier menu with none of the ordinary stuff. I can't remember what I ordered, but I do remember that it was delicious. The Cantina is in an old train station with a lot of atmosphere -... More

Best Mexican food in the NW! I've been stopping in for the 6 years, almost every trip thru town, never been disappointed. A great menu, nice atmosphere, great service, fine margaritas, and a raspberry ice tea that is well worth having a second!

I was really looking forward to trying this place as it was ranked #1 on Tripadvisor. While there wasn't really anything wrong with the food or the service, I was definitely disappointed. I ordered the Burrito Polo Verde, and it was the blandest Mexican food I've ever had. The "Mexican rice", for example, appeared to be plain white rice with... More

Really great drinks at good prices. Food was okay depends on your benchmark for Mexican food. Lovely wait staff. Nice patio by the CNN tracks is really cool with view of the mountains. Really good on a sunny day.
