Craving a view on a gorgeous spring day or on a hot summer day, or in the fall, or the winter, a meal on the deck of the George is a treat and always a great idea. There are fans for the summer, a canopy for shade, or heaters when there's that one cold day! Convenient parking is not something... More

A local woman who was at the Visitor's Center told us to eat here and we are glad we listened! We had a relaxing lunch and enjoyed the fresh seafood. The crab and shrimp nachos are amazing—some of the sweetest crab meat I've ever tasted. The house vegetable blend was savory and the portions were very generous. We intended to... More

I stopped in at The George last summer for lunch with my family. The location right on the Cape Fear River is ideal, and the fans and overhead roofing ensured dry and cooler temperatures for lunch. I was intrigued when I saw they offered alligator on the menu as an appetizer. My brother in law being the brave one in... More

Of course, you’re sitting outside so you can watch your fellow patrons, watch the river traffic, watch the sunset, enjoy the beverage of your choice, and relax in knowing that everyone is accepted even if you are different. Food was solidly good but not ‘to die for’ outstanding. They’ll cover your parking, if you follow the posted instructions.

My husband & I had a formal event to attend & by the time he got home that day while I was about 5 minutes from being ready he was willing to do anything to get me to agree not to go to my favorite event of the year. He offered any restaurant within a 3 hour drive, $50+ per... More

Went to the restaurant on a recommendation from our hotel. The appetizers were mediocre, and the fish entrees were undercooked. All the members of our party suffered from food poisoning shortly after arriving home. Do not go, unless you want to get sick!

We've been wanting to try here for a while now since it's always crazy crowded when we walk down the riverwalk. We came early for lunch so it wasn't crowded and we got our food really fast. It was really good, however, I did end up with food poisoning later that night that I can only link back to the... More

Lunch at the George was outstanding... Great corn-clam chowder and Bison burger. Great service and view...on the Cape Fear River. View of USS North Carolina (battleship) and the lift bridge.

For my son's wedding, we had to find a restaurant that had vegan and gluten free meals. They had both and the experience was wonderful for all in the party. We came in early to get the tables ready with flowers and things to make each table special. They cleared the tables, put linens on them, and helped us to... More

Stopped for dinner based on trip adviser reviews. My mohito was really good and my wife enjoyed her daiquiri. We each had and enjoyed very much the chicken panini. The waffle fries are lightly seasoned and good. The side salads were quite generous and our waitress, a local college student, was friendly and intelligent. Was a great experience.
