On the Riverwalk in Historic Downtown, The George Restaurant is Wilmington's only Downtown restaurant with a private dock for boating customers. In town with relatives for lunch. We were seated outside on a coolish day but the space heaters were working just fine.
We split the mound of seafood nachos ($15). Three of us had shrimp & grits($18) and one order of fish & chips ($16) with iced teas. The food was excellent as was the service by Lauren.
The total for 4 came to $100 without tip and included the river view.

This is a busy restaurant! I tried the fish and chips today. I must say, I was impressed. The fish was lightly battered and fried, flaky and very tasty. The fries were flavorful and crispy as well. I have been living in Wilmington for years, and finally got a chance to taste the George’s food. Seems I’ve been missing some good food. I will be trying more dishes from this restaurant. They have a Sunday brunch that seems like a winner! The staff is very polite and professional.

Very good food. We had the Crab dip, Salmon salad and the Black bass with curry. Everything was very tasty. Our waitress was very attentive and the views of the river were very pleasant while eating. There is parking across the street that is validated by the restaurant. We wish we had gone a little earlier because there was a cute market one block over that had some great shops in it.

This will be short, swift and to the point…. Our waitress Andrea was outstanding the food is overpriced and bland no flavor at all. Maybe 🤔 we came on a bad day and the so call chef 👩🍳 wasn’t happy 😃 and motivated but I could’ve made this tasteless crap at home and saved $84 dollars 💵. What you are paying for is the scenery overlooking the River and that’s it…. Peace ✌️& hair grease!!!

Never been to Wilmington, but hotel recommended this restaurant. My date’s meal was fine, but mine was not. $32.00 for 8 shrimp, Crab cake that looked like a burnt hushpuppy. Waitress promised another which never came, manager was condescending when saying that a ball was normal. Not like any crab cake I’ve ever had. Their own website shows a different picture. He discounted the meal $10.00. So for $22.00 I got 8 shrimp, a ton of fries and bowl of coleslaw.
Shrimp was very good, but not worth the money. Will never go back and I’ve never given a review before. Felt compelled with this disappointing and poor experience.

Didn't have high expectations for this restaurant when we chose to eat here. I often find that places that draw people for the waterfront dining don't have good food - but the George does not fit into that category. It had a great atmosphere AND great food. Had excellent burger and fries (among the best I've ever had!). Cooked exactly to order. Especially appreciated that the host staff was willing to accommodate our request for a specific table. Beautiful view of the river and great place to people-watch on the riverwalk.

We ate outside and the view was great. Service was OK. The fried Brussels sprouts appetizer was wonderful. Do not order the goat cheese crusted chicken breast. It was so bad, if I was a server there I would warn people against ordering it. My husband had the fish in curry sauce with coconut rice. He loved it, but the coconut flavor was overpowering.

Four of us dined last night (10 October 2020); first time here for my husband and me. Complimentary parking across the street, but had to wait until someone left.
We had 6:30pm reservations. We sat at the outdoor deck to enjoy the fresh air and views. However, the awnings blocked some of the views. It was overcast, so the awnings could have been rolled up.
The restaurant followed the 50% capacity rules and the staff wore their masks. Some wore gloves. Our waitress was Heather and she provided very good service.
For our appetizer, we had the alligator bites. I never had alligator before and no, it doesn't taste like chicken. I liked it a lot.
The four us ordered the shrimp and grits, which was excellent!!
I hope to return again soon to enjoy more of their menu items and to have cocktails on the outdoor deck.

After paying to park next door, we entered the lobby at 2:30pm to have a late lunch on Saturday before mother's day. We didn't have a reservation or felt that we needed one to just walk in during the middle of the day to have lunch. We were told that they weren't taking any walk-ins and weren't taking any reservations for anytime that day. The totally turned us away. There were many open tables and may people walking out with take out boxes of leftovers at the time we were in the lobby. We were very upset that this restaurant would just say we couldn't be served.

The special of the day for New Year's day was pot chop, black-eyed peas, and greens! The special was great and more than enough to eat when you added the rice. The seafood platter was a good assortment and a nice presentation. The mac and cheese with lobster were creaming and tasted great. Nice place right on the river with over half the seating available on the deck. Look forward to another opportunity to try something else from the menu.

This restaurant is on the river front so there are great views. There is seating outside and a good portion of it is covered. The food is delicious every time we visit and the staff is knowledgable and friendly. It's a "go to" when on the riverfront because they never disappoint.

We wanted some great seafood while on vacation, and gave this restaurant a try. The pros were the great service, and beautiful decor. My husband and I both ordered the fried crumb seafood platter. I thought the catfish was well cooked, and less salty, but the shrimp and fries were too salty to eat. The crab cake was a fried ball of what seemed to be the cheapest crab meat, like it had been mixed, scooped into a ball and fried. When I think of a crab cake, I think of lump crabmeat mixed with a little mayo, fresh breadcrumbs and some seasoning, made into a pattie and pan fried in a little real butter. Overall, it was disappointing .

Very disappointing. Our server was fantastic and the view is wonderful, but the food was underwhelming. Crab dip appetizer was decent, but Elijah's next door is so much better. The main entrees had very little flavor. Every bite of the salmon coated the roof of my mouth with oil. Cauliflower and potatoes had absolutely zero taste to them. I have never written a review before, but thought others should be aware of our experience. I highly recommend Elijahs which is next door as well as Anne Bonny's.

So disappointing. I ordered the seared diver scallops, and they were anything but seared. Texture was more like they were heated in a microwave...mushy, no carmelization, and extremely bland. The server never checked back to see how our food was. Instead, she was only interested in clearing dishes and turning the table. There are many good to great restaurants in Wilmington, so don't bother going here.

Had a nice little lunch outside. My mother and I ordered the hot crab dip for an app and then each ordered a bowl of she crab soup. The waiter did ask how we would like it delivered because the soup would be ready before the dip so we just said all together. The soup was good. Wasn't what we were expecting- it was more of a cream soup vs a red soup and could have been a little bit warmer. But it was good. Now the crab dip was fantastic! The crab dip was the best thing I had on my trip.
