I ate several times at the Pilot House years ago when affording it brought sweat to my brow. I’ve had water views stretching from Kalaloch to Oregon Inlet and it is the food that fundamentally must attract the repeat visitor. The Oysters Rockefeller were disappointing, the waiter was acceptable, the catfish was recommended but the catfish I had in Hot... More

On a family vacation during the holiday and wanted to enjoy a dinner with our family. Spouse and I have visited Wilmington area on numerous occasions and eaten here previously so were expecting the same caliber of service and food that we had enjoyed before. Unfortunately, we were sadly disappointed with both the service and the food. Price was not... More

We went here the day after Christmas for dinner and see the sunset. Unfortunately it was a cloudy evening so no sunset even tho we had a nice table by the window. Overall the dinner was great. I had one of the martinis and it wad fine. The ice tea was brewed and good per my husband. We split the... More

This is a great location on the river and an easy walk from historic down town. The free city trolley serves this area. The hit of our dinner was the chef's special, pan seared grouper with lump crab and spinach in sherry sauce. A nice size piece of flaky white grouper cooked perfectly. The sauce was delicious, the mixed vegetables... More

This restaurant is a landmark on Wilmingtons waterfront. Sadly no one seems to be paying attention to details. We had a wait in the reception area because the hostess had to clear tables outside. Hence we noticed the large hole in the wall, something that could easily be fixed but wasn't. This led us to notice other slight problems such... More

This was a very pleasant experience for an early supper. They accommodated my request for the fish of the day on top of the spinach salad, and the service was friendly and attentive without hovering. The cobbler was amazing for dessert!

Shrimp and grits is my go to dinner. This was a really interesting entree - not drenched in the creamy sauce you often find. This shrimp and grits was heavy on both shrimp and andouille sausage, with a hefty amount of collards and mushrooms. And, the grits were grit cakes - nicely cooked. The service was also excellent.

I visited The Pilot House with some friends for a birthday lunch for myself. The atmosphere was lovely decorated for the holidays and the scenery of this place is absolutely beautiful on the water, even for going on a cold and rainy day. The waiter seemed a little off but was good overall. Everyone's food was absolutely delicious and the... More

Great way to start my vacation. Fairly short jaunt from the airport. I'm from Minnesota, so dining outside the end of November is a real treat. The food was great. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits - but I have to admit the ratio of sausage to shrimp was off. I got 5 small shrimp and a ton of... More
