I have eaten her twice over the past two months. The first time the restaurant was open for about 2 weeks and the service was absolutely awful. Waiter left us for over 30 minutes before we could get an order in and then messed up the order and forgot one out of six dishes.
We ate there again a month later....service was a little better but still not great. There are a lot of people and the service and staff run around very chaotic. Not the most smooth and relaxing atmosphere.
Now for the good part: food is very good and some excellent choices. Fresh whole fish is inexpensive for what it is and excellent. Wine list is almost exclusively Greek wines so it is hit to miss.
Definetely with trying...hoping owners figure out the service levels.

We had a great meal here tonight. My husband had the lamb chops and I had the kakavia along with the sourdough bread which was really good! We split a dessert(flourless chocolate) ..while decent at $14 not worth the price. The place had a great atmosphere and was hopping busy. We were in the garden room and it was too cold( no heat?)…next time will sit in the main room or the bar. Will definitely come back.

Tastefully decorated, with walls adorned in Greek motifs, photos, and news articles. Skip the melitzano (eggplant dip); it was average. Beet salad comes with a beet sorbet that is as unusual as it is tasty. Outstanding mousaka, served in an individual skillet, topped with fresh melted cheese. Finish with a square of sweet Ravani cake.

We were not impressed with Kipos & we will not be returning. It's that simple.
The atmosphere is more like an old fashion dico than a Greek restaurant: pretentious, crowded, & extremely noisy.
After being seated, I asked to see the wine list. I was shocked to discover the entire list was 100% Greek wines! Not being a fan of Greek wines, I asked to see the "so-called" sommelier.
When he finally arrived, I asked him to suggest (if possible) a wine from his list that was "close" to a New Zealand sauvignon blanc, which he did.
Unfortunately, his skilled selection was only so-so at best, & it was about as far away from being "close" to a sauvignon blanc as a German resiling. In the heat of the moment, I accepted it, I'm sorry to say.
It wasn't until after our meal when I was presented with the check, I was dumbfounded to discover that his recommended wine selection cost $85.00.
That being said, I don't usually mind paying jacked-up restaurant wine prices, however, on a professional level when a wine goes past $75.00, a true professional sommelier would have said, "I can suggest a wine that's close to a sauvignon blanc, but it is in the expensive range." This would have allowed me (or any customer) to consider the selection more closely. Perhaps even asking the price.
Please know that the entrees were slight portions, & rather overpriced, leaving much to be desired.... And parking could be difficult.

Been to Kipos several times over the summer. Have always enjoyed the experience and the food was very good. Tonight, not so much. I had the Chicken Shiskabobs (Souvlaki). I had read a review that it was dry and burnt but thought it was an off night for the chef. I wanted to try them, Sadly, it was horrible. The burnt dry chicken tasted so bad I could not eat it and ended up going home hungry after dropping $100 on dinner for one. I sent my critic back to the kitchen via the wait staff. Not sure I will return to this restaurant as quality control is apparently not in force. Also would like to note that the zuchini stack that was ordered with appetizer round was sliced long ways and not as chips, it was greasy and not as good as I recalled from previous visit. However, someone at my table order the zuchini stack as part of their entree and their dish came out cut in the chips, crisp and deliscious - so inconsistancy on a dish ordered within 30 minutes of each other is not a very good sign. I hate to review a business on a less than positive note, but I am highly disappointed in what I believed was going to be a great restaurant.

First of all, WOW! This place is beautiful! Inside dining is spectacular but if you are fortunate to dine in the garden please take advantage. So beautiful. The food is amazing. We started with Melitzana, Saganaki, Keftedes, Grilled Octopus and (you must order) the Crispy Zucchini stack. the appetizers were all good with bursts of flavor and great seasoning. For my main i had simple grilled Branzino that is filleted tableside. It is what is expected with the freshest fish, grilled with herbs, olive oil and lemon. Sublime.... The wine list may throw some for a loop as it is all Greek. My suggestion is to look at the list before you come and research some varietals that match your taste. We had a nice Cabernet. What a treat to go to Kipos....

This restaurant has gained popularity because of the decor, the atmosphere inside the restaurant, and the marvelous garden. The dishes, focusing on Hellenic cuisine, are well presented, and the menu is varied. On the other hand, be prepared to eat, surrounded by a very noisy atmosphere that makes it almost impossible to hold a conversation. While dishes are tasty, the wine selection, primarily Greek wines, is limited and very expensive. Be prepared to spend nearly $100.00 per person for a varied meal and 14.00 dollars for sparkling water. In Wilmington, NC, it is becoming usual for average-rated restaurants to charge close to $75.00 to $100.00 per person for dinner. While we are all being overtaken by a spiraling inflation, it is time to say ENOUGH. So, I would enjoy the restaurant, but I would be frugal. My advice to Kipos's restaurant owners is to invest in soundproofing.

The best restaurant in Wilmington, hands down! A true hidden gem! Everything we ordered was delicious! The horiatiki salad was fresh, with heirloom tomatoes! The octopus was tender! The Yiouvetsi was so tender & moist, you only needed your fork! The desserts were amazing! My husband & I shared the Baklava cheesecake & the flourless chocolate cake! Our entire dining experience was superb! This is definitely our favorite restaurant for delicious food, great ambiance, & great service! Kudos to chef George!

Disappointed, overpriced. What it lacked in flavor and finesse made up with the lively vibe. I have left a detailed review on OpenTable - not especially complimentary. I despise paying good money for mediocre food that lacks attention to detail. Subtle, fresh flavors were not on “my” menu for this night.

We had dinner last night at Kipos, and it was absolutely wonderful. The space is larger than it seems; a deep restaurant filled with tasteful, clean decor. They also have a large patio, a transportive garden lined with metal tables.
Highly recommend the Fava dip made with the yellow split peas. It's similar to a hummus, but smoother, and with a cleaner, lightly sweet flavor. It was topped lightly with fresh olive oil, capers, oregano and red onion and served with warm pita.
For the experience, we got the whole fresh Branzino, their fresh catch of the day. It was roasted to perfection and fileted table side, served with lemon olive oil and herb salad. Light, fresh, and perfectly prepared.
The real star was their Moussaka, a dish somewhere between shepherd's pie and lasagna, but greek. A deliciously spiced, thick beef ragu with eggplant is topped with a dense, yet somehow still light, bechamel sauce with a texture closer to a delicate potato puree. The flavor was absolutely phenomenal. Ideal for the cold months, but still well worth trying in the summer.
Staff was courteous and well groomed. Our server, Jenn(?), was personable, attentive, and very helpful. We basically ordered her recommendations, and we're not disappointed.
Excited to give this place another visit next time I'm in town.

Thank you, Kipos, for reminding me that there are still a few places who care! Our visit last night was a throw back to the days when restaurants made an effort to provide a pleasurable dining exsperience! I am so sick of spending considerable amounts of money to receive average food and tolerate unhappy servers.
Kipos surpassed expectations across the board: ambiance, food, and service. The menu is inspired, a great selection at the bar, and while I do not know anything about Greek wine, the glass I had was delicious! Can't wait to go back!

Excellent! We had a company sponsored dinner here. The decor is very pleasant and homey, cozy. The service was excellent and quick. The waiters constantly changed our plates and brought the food quickly. The head chef here is Greek so he preps the most fresh and delicious Greek food! The restaurant has a daily special seafood section where one can get a catch of the day locally caught fish. I have ordered a locally ordered trout from Asheville mountains, NC region. Delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant!

The reason for 3 is very simple. Appetizers were great however we were only half way through the when entree’s arrived and we placed on the table without even asking if we wanted them then
Three of the four mains were just bad . Unseasoned, overcooked and tasteless.
Would not return however I do think we were just unlucky.

Our first time visit lived up to the hype. The garden is a lovely environment with trickling water and soft music. Our server, Julia, was terrific. Very knowledgeable about the menu and she offered a great wine suggestion as we know nothing about Greek wine. We ordered as we were finishing courses, and Julia was very patient and very attentive the entire evening.
The Keftedes spiced beef patty appetizer was flavorful with excellent tzatziki. Crispy zucchini also very good served with Green Goddess sauce, but would have been better with tzatziki.
The highlight of the night was the Hiroyuki, the Greek salad, and the Beet salad. The feta was outstanding and the heirloom tomatoes tasted as they just came from the garden. The beet salad was different in an amazing way, with red and gold beets, beet sorbet and manouri cream (soft cheese). The flavors are outstanding.
We were so full, but just had to try the moussaka, baked in a clay pot, made to order. Terrific and simple to share.
So many items in the menu to explore on our next visit, which will be soon. Kipos, we so needed a fine dining Greek restaurant and you delivered. Thank you.

We were 5 people for dinner on August 21, 2024. Superb appetizers but very average entrees. We had to request water refills repeatedly and we were seated right next to a service door that led to an outside dining area. We were swatting mosquitoes and flies non-stop. For the price, there is better in the area.
