The friendly service is better than the average food. Service is also quick...a good place for lunch if you're in a hurry. They have some massive margaritas...

I like this restaurant, but at my last visit our waiter REFUSED to wear a mask even when I told him it was a mandate. I looked around and other waitstaff were not wearing them either. We were forced to leave. Very disappointing!

I stopped in for a quick lunch during my trip to West Jefferson. The staff was excellent and provided great service. The lunch chicken chimichanga was a large portion and one of the best I’ve had. Also, the salsa was the perfect level of spice...and delicious. I would definitely recommend Monte D Rey.More

Extensive menu with all the usual suspects, some more selections more authentic than others. Service is always friendly and efficient. Food is usually good, but is a bit inconsistent.

I love the taco salad and, of course a tasty margarita! There’s no going wrong with anything on their menu. Consistently delicious food and over and above service. Top off your meal with a complimentary sweet strawberry treat!

I had sworn off this place after being ripped off (they charged me for something that wasn't on the menu, and that I didn't order...I think it was a language issue, but whatever....they ripped me off). I ordered my meal to go. Got beef tips taco salad. It was questionable. I had eaten almost all way to bottom when I encountered very small peas and tiny potatoes. The beef was shredded in small pieces. It was tasteless. Thought for a minute...I was eating dog food for tiny dogs. I stopped eating at that point. Potatoes and peas in a taco salad. It was not good. Has anyone else experienced this?More

I usually eat at the Monte d'Rey in Wilkesboro NC, which, in my opinion is the best Mexican restaurant around, but this one is just as good. You can always expect fresh meats and veggies, always prepared to order, it's just dependable and reliable and...the service is always prompt, polite and friendly. Thumbs up always for them! Glad to have a place in West Jefferson now. Oh, and I nearly forgot. VERY generous servings!More

Friends took us here for lunch and we enjoyed it enough to return another day for dinner. At lunch, I ordered the enchilada special, served with rice and a taco. The chicken enchilada was good, the taco (ground beef) didn't have much flavor. Spouse ordered...the steak fajitas both times. He enjoyed them, lots of lean meat, they are served with two flour tortillas and typical toppings. It would be great if they served three tortillas as there's enough meat for three. For our second visit, I ordered a side of rice and beans which were tasty and more than enough for a meal. The chips and salsa are very good, chips served warm. Staff is very friendly, I did have a problem with my rice and they were very quick to resolve it and very apologetic. Seems that they really care that you have a good experience. We will dine here again.More

Our family had dinner here after hiking & seeing the frescoes in West Jefferson... We all enjoyed our meals, & we will definitely go there again when we visit West Jefferson in the future... Great food, great prices, & lots of food... The staff was...also very friendly & welcoming.More
