Arrived at 12:15 lunch time on a Thursday. I ordered the fish and chips(French fries) you have a choice.
The meal is delicious. The fish and French fries were crispy and not too salty. The order included a not spicy side sauce and plain catchup and a very small side coleslaw. The glasses of iced sweet were replenished.
Total cost of lunch 28.00.
The time spent here was enjoyable. I will be back.

We had an absolutely outstanding dinner at this restaurant! The salads, entrees, drinks and desserts were absolutely the best! We all had a wide variety of dishes, all expertly prepared and served. Many restaurants in this price range leave us hoping for better quality, not this one; it's one of the best in the area!

The Glass Onion advertises "Global Italian", and although I'm not sure what that is, both of us loved it. We had an early reservation the night before Thanksgiving, and the restaurant was almost full. Our server (who happened to be the artist for the restaurant) was pleasant and professional, with just the right amount of attentiveness. My wife enjoyed one of their unique salads and delicious cauliflower soup, and I tried the pumpkin ravioli. We both enjoyed our meals very much, although the ravioli could have used less salt. The cream sauce was excellent and not the type that tends to congeal when cool. We parked right in front of the restaurant, on the street, and there is a lot directly across the street. We had arrived about an hour early, so we visited a few of the arts shops on the same block and then tried the brew pub across the street. It really is an ideal location. I am not a fan of the reservations process, which put us off a bit. You must put down a $25/person non-refundable deposit, and you have a 5 minute grace period (we were seated early, which was nice). We received a confirmation email, telling us that we had a 1 hour and 15 minute window for our meal. The next day we had a voice mail asking us to again confirm. In the end it was all worth it, and we would definitely go again.

We returned for the second time last night. I had a scallops special, my husband had swordfish, both quite good, scallops not overdone. The restaurant is smallish and intimate, not too noisy. It's marketed as northern Italian, but I wouldn't call it traditional northern Italian. The menu is creative and varied. Everything tastes fresh and textures are mixed nicely. We had a calamari app that says graham cracker crust, which I did not taste and I feel that was a good thing. I prefer more calamari and less breading anyway, even though it was very lightly breaded, but it's hard to find that. Anyway, it also seemed overly salty to us. The server was apologetic; the maitre'd or manager came over and offered a concession to us - not necessary but a nice gesture that we appreciated. What I like about this place is I get the feeling they really appreciate our business. They seem to care. Like an old family restaurant, they want you to be happy with what you get.
For dessert, we had a peach/gelato special and their coconut cake. Both delicious! IDK if they have an in-house gelato machine but it sure tasted like it. We'll definitely be back.

We enjoyed our third visit just as much as our first. The drinks, service and food were equally wonderful and we would not hesitate to share this restaurant with any of our friends and family. Even those who are very particular about their food and drinks will be pleased with the menu and the bar service.

There were three main dishes (The $34 scallop plate came with three (3) scallops.), two glasses of wine, one salad, one soup, and two desserts. All were well prepared and tasty. With a 20% tip, the meal cost $193.79, just as it would on Wall Street or central Paris.

We visited this establishment last week on a Sunday after reading a review on OpenTable. OpenTable pretty much has a good idea most of the time on what restaurants are good and this one looked like we would both like it.
From the outside the place looks small and unassuming. That's not a negative at all not in my eyes. Once you enter you will see a cozy Restaurant that is beautifully maintained and the staff that is very willing to help and accommodate every possible need.
Yes I have nothing bad to say about the place. I had a scallop special and my husband had the seafood ravioli and both dishes were amazing. I did order the arugula salad which could have been my meal but I didn't realize that when I ordered it.
They also gave us complimentary garlic knots that were amazing.
We will definitely be going back.

Glass Onion Weaverville is your setting for a fabulous family gathering! Our son and wife visiting with her parents from Warsaw joined us in the lovely bay window round table for an amazing North Carolina dining experience in excellence. The great service, perfect wine-plus-food offerings, and atmosphere are our favorites. No plates were left uncleaned! Plus, you can sample our area for Southern Coconut Cake (my favorite): Glass Onion will take the prize every time! We are net promoters for sure.

Friday night in July and no dinner reservations. We took a chance on the Glass Onion and got seats at the bar. We each selected different items on the specials menu and were very happy with our choices. Service was great as well. We’ll definitely be back.

I don’t post reviews, but the experience I had here with my girlfriend on 12/31/2020 was worth noting. We had reservations, but were placed at outdoor seating in the cold weather. We made the best of it and moved on with a positive attitude. When we ordered our food, my girlfriend expressed that she had a dairy allergy. We were told there would be no substitutions for the mashed potatoes so she agreed to take less food for the same price of the entree. We asked to ensure anything brought to her was dairy free. Green beans came and after eating some of them she quickly determined there was butter in them. She ended up vomiting in the bathroom from the reaction (and most of the evening after). We were not issued an apology, or a comp for her meal. At a place where you pay a little more I expected better service, and more attention to details. We were brought replacement green beans (even though they insisted there was not butter in them initially which was very clearly inaccurate based on her physical reaction), but the damage had already been done. This mistake ruined the remainder of our evening, and ensured that we would not ever return to this establishment. If you have any allergies, I urge you to stay clear. They don’t take it very seriously here.

What a great evening and meal six of us had here. Truly memorable. Cute little cozy restaurant. I split the rack of lamb with my significant other and the accompanying warm potato salad was divine. The lamb was cooked perfectly and very tasty. All the others enjoyed their meals as much as I did - spaghetti bolognese, shrimp with pasta and ravioli. Ordered two desserts to split - tiramisu and a light cake (forgot which one) and both were just OK. Would probably pass on deserts next time. Would definitely go back. Just an all-around excellent meal and evening.

Glass Onion bills itself as “global Italian.” It is fairly small with a lot of atmosphere, about fifteen tables indoors and minimal bar seating plus four or five tables located on the sidewalk. The sidewalk tables are on a busy thoroughfare, so might not be conducive to quiet dining, if that is what you want.
The service was excellent. My server Sage did a good job of explaining the specials, answering questions, and helping me select wine. They have traditional Italian fare as well as several unique entrées. I selected seafood lasagna, a salad of field greens, and a glass of Rosé - all delicious. The portions are generous, almost too much so. It was a big meal.
My only criticism is the entrée does not come with a vegetable and the sides are fairly limited. Other than salads, which do not offer a small/side option, the only two choices are chard (not for me) and red potatoes with string beans (do not need another starch with pasta). They need an additional small salad option as well as a vegetable with greater appeal like zucchini or asparagus. This would provide a more well-rounded menu and sizes appropriate to a smaller appetite.

This restaurant has become a stable and favorite place for groups of anesthetists to come to at our conventions and conferences. The owner and waitstaff were accommodating and wonderful. I had shrimp and angel hair in a wonderful sauce. The wine selection was terrific too. their desserts include Tira misou and all the classics. Don't miss it !

A lovely, intimate feeling restaurant with great food and wonderful service. We both had their fish specials: I had a monkfish oreganata dish which was a tad overdone, but still delicious; my husband had divers scallops, made gluten free. That dish is normally served with polenta, not a favorite of my husband’s. Without missing a beat, our waitress (Angie) offered to substitute red potatoes and green beans for the polenta. Well, that made the meal perfect for him. Kudos to this place for giving their waitstaff that flexibility. We’ll be back!

The Glass Onion is always a delicious stop for an exceptional dining experience on our yearly trek into the NC fall. The service is top notch, the food is exquisite upscale Italian. Fresh ingredients and a master touch behind the line make this place a must do!
