This restaurant is located in a restored hardware store and is tastefully decorated in hardware themes. While the menu is limited, everything is homemade. Service was fast and friendly. They temporarily do not offer beer and wine, but not a major issue with breakfast and...lunch. There is ample seating for couples and families and the health rating was 100. Check the hours as they open a little late for breakfast, as they were just opening when we arrived a little after 9. Unfortunately they were out of bacon and sausage, which is important for breakfast in our opinion. But they cheerfully substituted other meats. We will be back.More

Was looking for a local place to eat while driving home from the lake. Found this place and gave it a try. We enjoyed ourselves and our sandwiches and soup were very good. Love the atmosphere inside - great place to sit and relax. Wa...surprised to get charged for using a credit card and also charged a nominal fee (25 cents) for a glass of water. Not opposed to this - just would have liked to known up front. Probably would have paid cash. Nevertheless a good place and most likely will return when in the area.More

A delightful experience with attentive service, daily specials innovative atmosphere, Stopping at a quilt store en route to a quilt retreat this was a perfect stop. The half sandwich and soup or salad combo left room for a freshly baked piece of buttermilk pie! Fabulous!,...very reasonable prices and loved the historic atmosphere.More

Under another new ownership but already good restaurant is just better. Food is great. Service is attentive and efficient. Decor is even better. Still worth the 850 mile drive to eat here! Exceptional value.

There’s not much to choose from in Warrenton and when I heard there was a new place I didn’t think it would be good - but I was wrong! The Hardware Cafe is really REALLY good! The food is great, nice people, and the authentic...hardware store decor - which must be original - is excellent. This is where I will eat whenever I’m in Warrenton. Plus, they will make any of their sandwiches on gluten free bread and they do a fantastic job. They manage to keep the bread from getting soggy and falling apart by grilling it on...something. Don’t, know, don’t care - it’s just good 👍🏼More

Been here a number of times! Great stop for lunch with a multitude of great sandwiches. My favorite is the Blow Torch. The decor is worth the trip even if you go in for a soda. A lot to look at! My only complaint is...the “regular” coffee often tastes flavored as I think they may use the wrong carafe. Good prices. Employees always nice and friendly.More

Stopped in for lunch after a morning of searching for ancestors at the Court House across the street. As the name suggests, the venue is formerly a hardware store now repurposed as a lunch place, also serving breakfast starting 21 Aug. 2019. The wide variety...of sandwiches and a few more extensive plates are named in a hardware theme. Order at the front counter. Small but friendly staff can get back logged a bit during lunch rush, but do a good job. Definitely worth a try if in Warrenton, an attractive town reminding of years gone by.More

A great place to visit if in warrenton. Lunches are good value and tasty. They have great soup options on a cold winter day. You can look at the old fashion stuff and signs from days gone by while you wait for your food.

Walked into this pleasant little restaurant / country store. Loved all the little items that were for sale. It was like a local Cracker Barrel. Left with a kitchen towel that was perfect for a friend. The menu was a little misleading. Asked for tater...tots with my sandwich and was told they did not serve them anymore. Only chips now. The atmosphere is very comfy. The wall menu is cool to check out. Love that they sell local goods.More

A couple friends and I ate dinner at Hardware Café on a Friday evening. We celebrated one of my friend's birthday. Since this very old building used to be a hardware store, the names of the gourmet sandwiches are quite interesting! I ordered the "Halter...& Bit", which is mesquite turkey, lettuce, tomato, Havarti cheese, mayonnaise, and honey chipotle sauce on pumpernickel bread. Chips and a pickle came with the sandwich, which was delicious. I also had a microbrewery ale, which was a Friday night drink special as it was not on the menu. The atmosphere at this restaurant is very cool as I already mentioned, the building was a hardware store for decades. The building is around 100 years old, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to eating here again to try something else!More

We came to Warrenton to check out the antique stores and found only two open for business and then headed to the Hardware Café for lunch. This is a real neat experience as their sandwiches are named after something you would find in a hardware...store. Our sandwiches were very tasty and the service was very good also. Took a few minutes after lunch checking out the interior. We will return when in town as this was as a good dining experience.More

I had a pleasant Saturday afternoon lunch alone here at the Hardware Cafe. I was traveling to pick up my grandson and looked on Trip Advisor to find a "special" place for lunch on the way. It lived up to the reviews. Staff was very...courteous. My sandwich was delicious served on wonderful bread made at the cafe. Even the chips were the best. And the staff fixed a to go cup of water for me. Wish it were closer to home as I would certainly eat there often. Thank you Hardware Cafe!!More

We found this restaurant in Trip Advisor the day we decided to explore Warrenton, NC. What a find! We will definitely go back again! You walk up to the counter and order your lunch and then they deliver it to your table. We had lunch...and my husband got their special of the day which was a delicious hamburger with BBQ sauce and onion crisps. I ordered The Ladder sandwich (I think that was the name) which was ham, provolone, tomato and honey chipotle sauce.....I had no idea what that sauce would be but it was delicious. But the 2 things that stood out for me were their Health Dept rating of 100 and they had Stevia sweetener on the tables. That's the first time I've seen a restaurant offer Stevia (which is the only sweetener I use) and we rarely find a restaurant with a rating of 100 anymore! Plus, the staff was really nice and the restaurant decor was fun to look around at plus they had things like coffee and teas for sale. A great place to eat while in Warrenton!More

Hardware Café staff is very congenial and accommodating. Variety of food (meats, deli meats, cheeses, etc) is available and is served fresh and plentiful! Décor is reminiscent of 1930s grocery store/hardware store interiors.

The food menu is pretty basic but what you want to come here for is the atmosphere. The inside is gorgeous and it’s also the best plane to relax and kill time in this town. They do have beer and some decent coffee drinks too
