Since moving from Minnesota to North Carolina, I have been looking for that one, intimate Italian restaurant that stood out from the rest that I could rely on for an intimate evening out, when needed. This establishment literally hit home, its is intimate, it is...welcoming, accommodating and more than capable of meeting expectations. Although reservations are highly welcomed, I would assume they take walk-ins as well. Now most of ALL Italian restaurants have exceeded or failed at one thing in the fine state of NC, and that being Gnocchi. Mediocre restaurant's will serve a ton of recently thawed gnocchi, married to a mediocre sauce or serve house made gnocchi, married to a quality sauce. Amalia's not only married a quality pesto sauce to an amazing gnocchi, they fine tuned the portion and fresh bread supply to allow the soaking up of the remainder of that wonderful sauce, unlike the greedy Americanized restaurants looking to profit on every aspect of the dining experience, by charging in one direction or the other. They also surpassed my expectations on the quality of the lasagna! I would consider Amalia's lasagna of the two best I have experienced elsewhere across the globe. It was phenomenal and quite unique! I will look forward to this again. Generally speaking I would have to say Amalia's has the best customer service and attention to detail I have experienced thus far, across many states. They will go out of there way to make sure you're dining experience is perfect, and this opinion coming from someone whom has had the luxury of dining in Michelin rated restaurants overseas, I now adore this establishment and would hope everyone visiting would as well. Cheers!More

The service was excellent. And food was best Italian we've had since Rome. Top class dining in Wake Forest. Great wine list, great menu. Great flavors.

We had a couple of places in mind, but my personal experience at Amalias was unforgettable. Both Amalias and Gaiteno names were in my mind. The food was presented in unforgettable ways and incredibly delicious. The staff was lovely and very kind. However, outshining the food,...the atmosphere and all the other staff was the Sommelier Gaiteno. he was consistently knowledgable and and kind to us even though my friends had different levels of wine appreciation. I am a novice wine drinker, and my friend is much more knowledgable and Gaiteno conversed with both of us. He was incredible selecting a wine that we would all like and was almost better than the food! Definitely splurge on the premium wines. Gaiteno is truly an Ambassador to Amalias. Passion!!!More

I was very excited to hear about your establishment. Your restaurant has long been one of the finest in the city, highly applauded by its service and wine list; so we gave it a go. Amalias truly fulfilled even more so than we had expected....The amazing flavours were amazing with perfect portions. I have always had a deft touch for food and wine. Gaitino took us in a journey with the dishes and wines. The choice of the Brunello was a pallet changer with a perfect decanter. He explained the wines source, naming the grape and region and this really made us embrace your establishment. A wonderful experience. Thank you. We'll be back.More

Delicious food choices and an extensive wine list made our night here quite memorable. The food is definitely Italian inspired and presented as such! After having spent considerable time in Italy, the food was a refreshing reminder of the way Italian food should be prepared!...We sat in the bar area, and Kim our server and bartender, went over and beyond our expectations! She could use some help in the bar as it was very busy and she was it! Perhaps a server in addition to the bartender would help as our food delivery was a bit slow although we weren’t in a rush. They have just reopened so tweaks are expected. The owner was gracious to come by the table for comments which we very much appreciated. We will go back as the espresso martinis are perfect and the food is reminiscent of nights in Italy!!More

It was our first time dining at Amalia’s and the food, service and ambiance was superb. The black truffle pasta primi was fantastic. Great wine recommendation from our waiter who was an older gentleman from Sardinia... knew so much about the food, wine and ingredients...and also a funny nice guy.. ask for him. It was a bit loud at times but the dining room was full and honestly I think it was just a sign of people having a good time. We’ll be back.More

Simply well below reasonable expectations. The cold meat and cheese appetizer was skimpy. Our main dishes were brought to the table while we were still eating the appetizer, and rather than acknowledge that she had make an error, the server tried to move the appetizer...plates to the side and serve dinner. When the main dishes were delivered my food was still under-cooked. When I complained I was told the chef serves the duck medium rare. I replied that it was raw to rare, but no reply. The others in our party ordered the risotto with scallops. There were 2 or 2 1/2 scallops on the plate and the dish was cold. Presumably when we objected to being rushed, the food was simply left somewhere to be re-served. From the moment we arrived at the door to the end of our dinner approximately an hour had passed. Since we had ordered a bottle of wine with our appetizer this was unacceptable. When we expressed our overall displeasure, we were offered a complimentary dessert. We refused in order to end this unpleasant experience , rather than prolong our dissatisfaction. in fairness, the room was pleasant but not a place to which we would return.More

We drive by Amalia’s regularly and always comment that we should try it, so tonight we finally did. The entire experience was phenomenal! Our server, Ross, was so welcoming. He asked for our names, gave us a brief history of the restaurant and menu, and...truly enhanced the “You just walked into Mima Amalia’s Italian home” vibe this restaurant offers. The food was authentic and absolutely amazing. Having the chef come to our table to introduce himself and ask how everything was was an honor. And, the tiramisu was absolutely the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend Amalia’s!More

My husband and I came here since I heard a lot about this restaurant on Social Media. Our server, Ross did a great job of describing everything. We visited Italy in 2015 so live real authentic Italian food and the food here was fabulous! As...we left, the owner chef even came over and said hello. Definitely recommend this place.More
