We have made it an annual tradition to visit Lavender Bistro on Valentine's day. Dinner was a five course fixed menu starting with a Field Green Salad, followed by a Sweet Potato Bisque with main course of Trout Almondine and Petite Filet with grilled shrimp...and ending with Creme Brulee. All excellently prepared and served. This restaurant is easily a "cut above" anything else in the area and well worth the visit..More
It is a rare find in the Upstate to have well prepared French cuisine. Lavender is a storefront restaurant on the main street but with pleasant ambiance. It may lack the frills of a big city French restaurant, worth a try.
Lavendar Bistro service was great for an event I recently had at the restaurant. The food is 4 dots, service the same. Food is more or less "continental." Presentation was good. The ambience was a little "worn", but typical of what you would find in...the NC mountain environment.More
This restaurant is better than average, but not very good. It’s just good. The interior space is very ordinary, white sheet paper over tablecloths. Chairs ok comfortable. I had a Niçoise salad with seared tuna. The tuna was cooked well, but the grade of tuna...was average. The potato was over cooked. I couldn’t cut the potato with a fork...too hard. The greens, olives, tomatoes and salad dressing were very good. For a small town though, it’s a good choice.More
Our server, Amber, was excellent. She anticipated our needs, was attentive and delightful.
The Fried Green Tomato Stack was served with pimento cream cheese which I liked, my wife less so.
Our side salads were very good. I would have liked my Escargot to have...had more flavor...a personal preference.
We both had shrimp 🍤 francese, and would definitely order it again.
I can also recommend their robust coffee.
The atmosphere is welcoming and tasteful.
Our UMW group had a delish lunch here after we had hiked up to Pearson Falls. The food came out quickly, nice and hot- you gotta try the blue cheese and apple soup and the chicken salad sandwich! Great onion rings too!! 🤗
As much as it pains me I am compelled to assign a Average rating. The hostess was personable and accommodating and our server was fine. Both were excellent. But the food was lacking. My Greek salad lacked imagination with a few olives to the left,...a few tomatoes to the right, a very light sprinkling of feta over all and shredded lettuce. By far the most blah of all Greek salads I have ever eaten. The veggie risotto was under seasoned and required several applications of salt during consumption, while the apportionment of veggies was scant at $21.00. My wife’s Shrimp Francaise contained too much butter, but the shrimp were plump and fresh.
Overall not bad, but not worthy of more than the rating assigned.More
It is your choice. I'm sitting in the restaurant now on a Thursday evening and there is one man with shorts and a short sleeve shirt and another with blue jeans. So dress in what makes you feel comfortable.
