Pretty good lunch deal that gets you a couple of slices and a soda for about $3.50 or so... Had it twice, but the pizza I got about 9 months ago was way better than the thin and semi tasteless stuff I got this month....If it improves I may try again but not sure if it will.More
To call this a mediocre pizza, is to risk doing a disservice to all the ‘decent’ mediocre pizza’s available in the world. I know one takes one’s chances ordering a $5.99 thin crust pizza from a pizza joint just off an interstate exit, and attached...to a gas station. But, the crust was indistinguishable from one of those store-bought prefab crusts for “make at home,” except the one you would make at home would have more cheese and pepperoni on it. It was comparable to a ‘Red Baron’ frozen pizza, which is to say it wasn’t awful, but not an endorsement either. It reminded me of a pizza one might get at a bowling alley concession. One gets what one gets on the road for $5.99. If I had it to do over, would give some thought to the McDonalds or Burger King instead, at the same intersection.More
I spotted this restaurant about a month ago and finally got around to trying it today. It's across town from where I work so I don't get over to this area very much.
J's has probably been open for about two months now judging on...the dates on their Sanitation Inspection Certificates which by the way, had very good scores. It's small with just a counter, prep table off to the side and a small conveyor pizza oven. A couple who I assume to be man and wife and the owners were the only two employees when I was there.
Looking over the menu, it's basically a good collection of various pizzas, subs and a couple of pasta dishes. Everything is made to order and it comes out nice, fresh and hot.
They do not have any dining facilities so everything is counter service to go or they also deliver.
I ordered a 8" Buffalo Chicken Sub which I took back to my office. When I got back, it was still nice and hot and the flavor was great. Plenty of meat with just the right amount of heat.
The service is great and the food is great also. This place is right off of I-40 at exit 148. While not connected, they share a building with a gas station so a bit hard to find.
For locals and travelers alike, it's a good place for lunch.More
