There is no way to rate all the food they offer fairly. IT'S ALL Good! The Shrimp and Grits were great. The mamosa's were perfect! The omelet was huge and so dang good. Since our first visit, we have ordered Lasagne, mozzarella and tomato, Chicken...marsala....same great flavors same ample portions.More
We visited this restaurant several months back with another couple, and had hoped it would be a nice dinning experience. First we had to wait a while to get seated (which is understandable during these times when restaurants are short staffed), and then when we...did get seated, and after an even longer wait to get our drinks and meals, our waitress basically disappeared for what seemed like 20 minutes or so, while our glasses set empty. The food itself was mediocre at best. After waiting again, we received our checks. The couple we were with paid by credit card, while we paid our check in cash, which included a more than deserving tip. What happened next was pretty much unbelievable. As we were leaving, and approaching the front door, our waitress, with the owner or manager in tow came running after us, accusing me (fairly loudly) of walking out on my bill (in front of a full restaurant), holding up an unsigned receipt. We all stepped outside, at my request, and I reminded her that I paid her in cash, not credit card, also reminding her how much of a tip I included. She then waited for a moment, and then said "oh yea that's right, I remember now" No apologies that I can remember. The reason I gave this place a 2 rating instead of a 1 is because, again, I understand that these days, good help can sometimes be pretty difficult to get.More
One of the best pizzas we have found in the area and lovely wine selection. Also ordered the Sausage Stromboli and it was really good. Definitely going back. Yum!
My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for many years each time we visit Holden Beach area. The food has always been great and the service wonderful! This trip it has been the total opposite experience. We were seated by the hostess...at the desk at a table that wasn't clean. I actually went out to the car and brought in my antibacterial wipes to clean it off! My husband's silverware was dirty! We had to ask for clean utensils. The carpeting was filthy! All the while the hostess is standing at her desk by the door on her cell phone for the entire time we ate. She could have been cleaning or doing something to show an interest in her job. Our waitress never did clear our dishes and had a very odd personality, not friendly, not overly rude, just strange. She didn't seem to care one way or the other that we were there. I swore we wouldn't go back again but...since we'd had such wonderful experiences in the past, we decided we'd get something to go a few nights later. I called it in, stopped over to pick it up while out shopping and the woman at the desk (someone different than the prior visit) was incredibly rude! Wow, she appeared to hate her job, hate people or just be having one miserable life. I said 'thank you' upon leaving in a friendly voice, she said nothing and walked away. Wow, what happened to Angelos?? We used to love this place! Oh and did I mention the music was awful and depressing??? They used to play Frank Sinatra and cool music like that. This place has gone downhill bad! Our neighbors who live here said they had a similar experience a week prior and will not be returning. What a shame as we did enjoy this place for many years but will be looking to dine elsewhere in the future.More
Three of us embarked to Angelo"s for lunch. Three different selections: Chicken Marsala was very good. Salmon dish was also very good. Meat balls were a little dry. She Crab soup was good. We will go back another time. Pizza is recommended by friends...
I have been to this restaurant a dozen times but last night will be our last visit. The staff is rude and feel like they are doing you a favor by serving you. We made a reservation and was told that the it’s too bad...but we had to wait They were seating walk ins prior to people with reservations We were made to wait 15 -20 minutes for our 645 reservation then another reservation came in after ours and the waitress asked them not us if they wanted a drink while they were waiting. We asked when our table would be ready we were told well when the next big table of people leave then you’ll get to sit. We finally get seated and the rude waitress who also claimed to be the manager came to our table she then demanded we put our total order in all at once Drinks appetizers and dinners. Very rude and unprofessional. New owner jim lane must be trying to cut corners to get his money back. way understaffed and air conditioning set too high this is a poorly managed restaurant. Hopefully the owner reads this and fires the rude employees that he hasMore
Been here several times and will probably continue to go as there aren't too many choices in Shallotte. Their food is usually pretty darn good. Staff could smile more & be MUCH more attentive (especially considering what gratuities are these days) - but I understand...no one really wants to work and being short staffed puts a lot onto servers but when you have two or three young people standing at the hostess desk just "hanging out" - come on, give a hand to the folks behind you that are really hustling - one server for six or eight tables??? Like everywhere, prices are high and I don't see the value but if I don't want to cook at home - I have to pay it. Oh yeah - Buy a whole cake from the local bakery - it's much cheaper than one slice at Angelo's.More
The food entrees were not good - so sorry to say. Four of us got the spaghetti and meatballs. Bad choice --- the food tasted way too bland and the meatballs had no flavor (frozen?). None of us finished our meals. The bread brought to...us was made from old sub rolls, flattened and baked until they aren't eatable ! Hard as bricks. The waitresses were ok but one got very familiar with us until she was pretty much sarcastic - and not funny any longer. When she asked if we wanted dessert, we said, ok! She said there was lemoncello cake.... and I LOVE lemoncello cake. Then she came back to the table and said -- Whoops, there isn't any left..... Our meals and the evening was an overall disappointment.More
We have moved to Oak Island, and this is the best pizza we have had. Worth the drive to Shallotte. Service great. Prices reasonable. We like that we can each get a 10” pizza our way!
Food was good, service was good but prices? I believe every item we ordered was priced higher the the price listed on the menu that they gave us when we were seated. I do understand that we are in a time where the dollar is...losing it's purchasing power but one would certainly expect to be charged the price quoted on the menu.More
Angelo’s is absolutely the best Italian in Shallotte. Mozzarella was cooked to perfection, and the focaccia bread was very tasty. Our waitress, Julie, was awesome and attentive. She was so patient, as we had several people in our party who couldn’t figure out what they...wanted. Entrees were tasty, and pizza was hot and fresh. We will be back!More
We’re originally from NJ and had almost given up on the idea of good pizza outside of the NYC metro area. That changed when we stopped at Angelo’s. Their pizza is near perfection! The crust is crunchy/chewy and just the right amount of cheese and...sauce. The also have a very good, very affordable wine list. Will be going back to try some of their entrees.More
As always, our visit for dinner was a joy. The food is very good and the staff is delightful. For this last visit I had the rich and delicious Tortellini Michaelangelo, while my son cleaned his plate with shortribs. We left fat and happy.
We eat here several times a year, it is conveniently located between our beach house and some friends place. Great food, good wine selection, great service. If they are having staffing issues like most restaurants it doesn't show.
Spending a girl's weekend in the area, we found Angelo's on TripAdvisor. We walked in @ 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and were seated immediately. The restaurant was filled with the heavenly smell Italian pizza. The wine selection is plentiful. The Bruschetta Caprese was fresh...and delicious. The Margherita pizza perfectly cooked from the brick pizza oven. The Rigatoni Rustica was the best I've tasted anywhere. And our server, Sixta, was a delight. Cannot wait to come to Angelo's again when we visit in the Summer.More
