We saw this on trip advisor and wanted to go for lunch. Unfortunately this is the incorrect address. So we went 10 minutes out of our way to the address listed, and no restaurant! I called and the lady there gave me directions that unfortunately...were incorrect from where we were located, so we drove another 15 minutes in the wrong direction. At that point we had to give up and keep driving. Call for the correct address before you go!More

I think you can get at least 15 different varieties of pork prepared here, from link or patty sausage, hot or mild, smoked sausage, or smoked pork chops, fried or simmered in gravy tenderloin, fatback, bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits, tenderloin and gravy, country ham,...glazed ham, pulled pork BBQ, and I'm sure I'm forgetting several more. It's all fresh and made from Famous Smith's Red and White butcher shop right next door. Along with those selections there's a large assortment of sides covering nearly any breakfast item served in a southern diner, and for lunch the same applies. Oh they have beef, chicken, and fish as well in almost as numerous selection. Nice clean venue, prompt service, fair prices, and the wait isn't too long considering.More

Heard about this from several sources. Old fashioned country cooking at it's best. Wish we had heard about them earlier. Friendly STAFF. GENEROUS PORTIONS. Will return again and again .

We spent the holidays in Rocky Mount, visiting from Albuquerque, NM. We decided to have breakfast together at Smith’s before leaving. What a treat! The service was excellent! It felt like family all around! This welcoming setting felt like a family hug! The food was...plentiful (huge servings), and every single item was absolutely delicious! Thank you for making our departure breakfast so awesome! I hope we can make it our yearly tradition!More

This place is a hidden gem. Just a little off I-95 in Dortches, NC just north of Rocky Mount. Try to get there early because you may have to wait if you show up after 8am. You can order off the menu or from the...buffet. I had two pancakes with a couple eggs, breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. My wife had one of their specialties the cheese biscuit. Everything I had was great and my wife loved her meal as well. Never knew this place was there but I know now and will be back.More

First time eating there! Pleasantly surprised with both a full breakfast and lunch menu and a buffet of meat n two vegetables. I had the buffet and could hardly finish the ribs. One of their big sellers is their breakfast sausage. It is to die...for and can be bought at their supermarket next door.More

Having read very good Trip Advisor reviews for this restaurant, we looked forward to sampling their advertised "southern food". However, disappointment followed with a not-so-great-experience in that dining option. Service was fast, attentive and friendly but what we ordered from the lunch menu was just...mediocre. My husband ordered the BBQ sandwich plate. What arrived was a scoop of mushy BBQ and not a sandwich. The plate included cole slaw and French Fries. I ordered the Chicken Salad Combo on Wheat Bread. What arrived was a Chicken Salad swimming in a mayo/salad dressing on white bread and cold French Fries. Perhaps the Chicken Salad was so finely shredded that it absorbed the mayo/salad dressing. We had hoped for more, but alas not to be.More

We stopped in the restaurant and each got a barbecue sandwich plate. The shredded barbecue is tasty and good cole slaw. The fries were good as well. The restaurant is larger than we thought it would be and there is a buffet available. If we'd...had more time, we would have liked to have tried the buffet. We especially like going into Smith's grocery store next door. The chicken salad and pimento cheese (available in containers) is excellent. They also have the BBQ and cole slaw available in containers too. We always stop in the grocery store on our way home to Virginia from visiting our daughter in Cary, NC.More

My wife and I decided to stop at smiths red and white grocery ,and what a surprise. They also have a restaurant---= and what a restaurant!! you can order off the menu or go thru the cafeteria line . we chose #2 a-for 6.99 we...had country style steak, mashed potatoes ,gravy , fried okra ,hush puppies--- what a meal, it all had home cooked taste, no institutional taste there . there are 3-4 different meat selections,4-5 vegetable choices, several bread choices, different desserts--a winner for sure.. 5-star on food, service , price and the kicker is when you finish eating you walk thru a door into the finest little grocery store anywhere. Don't miss out on smith's !!More
