We were looking for a place to have lunch and wanted to go where the locals eat. This would be the spot. Jeff enjoyed the daily special, a double cheeseburger, fries and a drink. He enjoyed it very much. The hamburger was freshly made and the fries were not frozen. I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich. This restaurant is a... More

This is a fantastic local family owned diner that has been around for a while. A group of 6 of us, in town with work, stopped in for lunch. The burgers and fries were fantastic as was the chicken sandwich. Service is quite friendly and prices were very reasonable. We all agreed that this was one of the best lunches... More

Inside is insanely dirty. Nice people but that's about it. Hot dogs are just OK. Nothing like I was expecting from the reviews.

A small town greasy spoon. Sweet people, but sweet doesn't take care of your hunger pains. Walk on by.

Every time I go back home this is a must stop. Best hotdogs on the planet. I'm 45 now and retired from the Military. Have tried a hot dog in just about all 50 states and 8 countries. Nothing comes close.

Found this tiny spot via TripAdvisor - reviews and an article. So great - small, local, homey. At a time when nearly all establishments are polished and branded, 2nd street is a standout and a throwback in time. We had burgers and a dog fully dressed, a pizza burger, a cheeseburger and a bacon cheeseburger. All came with fries. All... More

Be forewarned. This little restaurant is just that - little. And not much to look at. But they do have really good food. They have been around for decades. I was introduced to 2nd Street Lunch by my husband who is from Roanoke Rapids. The first time he told me to get the hot dogs with everything, including both chili... More

Description
This is one of those excellent hidden gems that's been around a long time. They are known for their hamburgers and hotdogs. They don't have a web site but here is excellent article about the owner and the restaurant. http://www.ourstate.com/second-street-lunch
