Had the duck carnitas and Brussels sprouts as dinner! What a great choices! The duck was amazing and the sprouts included orange slices, bacon and a wonderful sweet sauce! Yum! Great atmosphere and service. The beer was a bit pricey at $8 a Corona but, otherwise, this was fun!

I have had my birthday dinner at Jose and Sons for the past two years. Both years we had 15+ people in attendance and Jose and Sons is fantastic with handling a large group. In addition to the good service, the food never disappoints-- I love the Mexican/Southern fusion. I always get the Enchiladas del Mar, but I saw a... More

Was downtown raleigh this morning and needed GF brunch. Fiction kitchen had 1+hour wait which now I'm glad of because the chicharon and waffles(their answer to chicken and waffles) at Jose and sons was great. Waffles made from corn masa and surprisingly fluffy.

We had a great time. We split small plates. The guacamole was just okay. The beef brisket to be wrapped in corn tortillas was delicious. The corn on the cob was yummy. I also enjoyed their chips and salsa.

We go to Jose & Sons at least once per month and honestly, I'd go more frequently if my coworkers would let me. However, they tell me we have to "pace" ourselves or we could get sick of specific lunch places. Anyway, I've never been disappointed at Jose & Sons and honestly love it. My favorite item on the menu... More

I was looking for a quick meal and this place was ideal. I ordered the Flautas which was lightly fried filled with chicken on romaine lettuc with guacamole, fire-roasted salsa, crema, and queso fresco. It was pretty good. The service was good and the location was easy to get too.

Description
We serve comfort food that celebrates our forefathers’s Mexican roots and the culinary traditions of the local neighborhood. "On the plate, “Mexican-Southern” translates to dishes such as chicharrones and waffles, and shrimp and masa “grits” with Chihuahua cheese. You can expect to see Southern staples such as okra and collard greens done in new ways, too. An emphasis on local sourcing means that even the chiles rellenos on the traditional side of the menu may not always be made with the standard poblanos." Greg Cox, N&O
