This place is well worth the wait - their food is delicious and everything we've had there is memorable. Start with the pimiento cheese spread as an appetizer and head into whatever suits you from the chalkboard menu. Most of their offerings are simple and recognizable (e.g., roast chicken, mac & cheese, fish), but the preparations have a unique and... More

We had heard good things about Poole's Dinner, however we found the place noisy, overcrowded and the food was just OK! Expensive small portioned entrees that force you to order a side dish! If I'm paying $50 a head I don't want to sit at a counter that is elbow to elbow, with minimal service! We've been there had the... More

Don't expect a fancy setting, but do go primed for a great dining experience! We ordered practically everything on the menu to share between 4 food and wine industry professionals and there wasn't a missed beat all night. The service was friendly and enthusiastic, wine list (actually a chalkboard above the bar) was short and quirky in the best sense.... More

Poole's Diner is awesome. The atmosphere is great and the food is awesome! The mac and cheese is my favorite dish!

This is one of my very favorite restaurants. The place is small and no matter when you go it will be busy, but it is all so worth it. The acoustics are terrible, but know that going in. Enjoy the experience of great food and all the food combinations. Be adventurous and try something out of your comfort zone. You... More

Pooles's Diner stands alone....without question Raleigh's premier eatery. From the moment Poole's opened to today you are assured of a truly memorable evening. The menu remains innovative...featuring farm fresh ingredients with a staff dedicated to insuring you feel welcomed and comfortable. The vibe is lively and good natured. Smiles abound and laughter fills the air. There is plenty of free... More

This is a hole in the wall. Literally. Step inside though and it's an old timey diner with an eclectic menu and wonderful eats. We each had the roasted chicken with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and shared the macaroni au gratin (mac and cheese!). The double chicken stock on the mashed made the dish a tad too salty. The mac... We were traveling from Georgia and I messaged "Chef and Farmer" and they recommend this place to us. What a find! We had a 30 minute wait but that is normal for a well-known place. The place was packed and loud! If you are not up to talking loud to your friends and family at dinner, this place is not... More

Visited after a concert. Place was packed, but wait was very brief. We enjoyed the bartender's red wine suggestion and it paired perfectly with what we ordered. After watching every table get the mac and cheese, we added it to our order. It was fantastic, with a crunchy baked top and just the right amount of bite (a little gouda?).... More

My partner and I ate at Poole's on Saturday, June 25, 2016. We travel to NYC for business and Ms. Christensen is quite well regarded in the city. We happened to be in RDU, so why not. When we arrived at Poole's, I thought it was the wrong address. The place is very seedy looking from the outside. Once inside,... More
