Our best supper in Raleigh .... by far. Braised ribs were to die for. Pork shoulder a very close second. Shrimp and grits were goo but not outstanding. Well informed and friendly staff. We were lucky to walk in and go straight to a table (they don't take reservations and they were nearly full when we arrived). We've had a... More

Poole's Diner has never not met my expectations. The cool part is sitting at the semi-circle counters for a casual night of drinks and collection of appetizers, but the last time went we had a table for 7. The service was perfect! Poole's offers very unique dishes in every category, so we ate family style and ordered about everything, sharing... More

We took advantage of Hurricane Matthew as it came through Raleigh to go to Poole's Diner - we knew it wouldn't be busy because of the weather, but it was still open! We had wanted to go there for quite a long time, and I was so glad that it ended up being as good as we had heard. I... More

Wow. Had really high expectations for this place but it was a let down. Everything was over priced for what you got. Small portions for entrees. Mediocre at best. Plenty of better places to eat for your money in Raleigh.

This tiny place does not take reservations so be in line at 5:00 to get a seat at the 5:30 pm opening. Counter or table service is offered. The menu for the day is on the blackboard on the wall. North carolina style shrimp and grits was tasty but had no heat at all. The pimento cheese was really good.... More

Heard about Poole's and it surpassed our expectations. It was busy for a Wednesday evening but we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was friendly...food was excellent. We will go back

A little gem clever hidden right in front of you. If you didn't know where this restaurant was you would walk right by. LARGE variety of craft beers and wine and top shelf liquor. The Macaroni Augratin (AKA Mac & Cheese) is to die for and a MUST HAVE! All food is fresh. Interesting fresh deserts.

We ate dinner here with a few friends and found the food excellent. We tried a number of different dishes including the Mac and Cheese, Chicken and the Hamburger special for the main courses. We had a few of the appetizers and a taste of a few deserts. Highly recommend this place to eat!!!

We went for our wedding anniversary, having heard such great things. One of the bus persons removed my white wine glass before I was done with it. The waiter was standing right there and when he saw my gaping mouth look of shock, he brought me another full glass, no charge. That was nice. When our food came, my husband... More

We went to Poole's on a random Thursday night in September. The main problem we've had in the past is simply getting in. They don't take reservations, and the last time we went (pre-symphony) we arrived at 5:30 and were told we could be seated by 7:30 (before our 8;00 concert). This time, we went to treat my sister to... More
