every one at the table enjoyed their meals. the sea bass special was particularly good. my tenderloin was cooked pink as requested and fork tender. coquile st jacque is a fabulous appetizer. cold cauliflower soup was great. green salad needs sprucing up. lettuce and radishes with 2 cherry tomatoes and 4 croutons is a bit too basic. the chef checked... We visited for dinner here and were looking forward to it. We have been here 5 times over 14 years and so are not regulars, but it was very good historically. I'm not as impressed. There has been a change in ownership and chef. While the restaurant over exudes in attention to service - which was good, the food and... More

The last time I rated this restaurant, I gave it a 5 star rating and said although it was high dollar it was worth every penny. We just ate there for our 43rd anniversary on July 29th, and I feel I have to revise my rating. I don't know if it's the change in ownership and chef or if they... More

I'll start by telling you how I read reviews on TripAdvisor. I start by reading the bad reviews and noting how long ago those reviews were written. And I compare the number of bad reviews to the number of good ones. By doing this, I can learn if the restaurant has improved. This all helps me to get an overall... More

The Chef is great! Authentic, excellent French food and with excellent services. Overall I think the best restaurant in Raleigh. Its a white table cloth restaurant, and great for a special occasion.

Having been a dedicated fan of this place for over 8 years, I was disappointed when the former owners sold out last year. I tried the place once after it changed hands it was only okay. I could only say "remember old days " when Lil and Lorraine were always hovering to ensure you had a good dining experience. Last... More

I dined here with a small group of business professionals in June, and found the menu, service and ambience to be exceptional, particularly for a small place in Raleigh. The chef came to our table and, after learning one of of group was vegetarian, prepared a special dish for her that was as wonderful in presentation as it was in... More

This place is a gem! We went here after a friend's recommendation. Everything was amazing from start to finish. They serve fresh lilac cranberry bread, sourdough, and French bread. I ordered the rack of lamb and it was phenomenal. My husband ordered the braised mallard breast (duck). I also had to try their onion soup, this was the only item... More

My wife and I decided to visit after reading reviews. We started with the sweetbreads and escargot, both excellent. Sam, the sommelier, gave some great recommendations on a bottle to accompany our entrees. Our entrees were the rack of lamb and the duck breast. Both were outstanding. We look forward to our next visit.

Good service, pleasant atmosphere except for the view outside. The muscles could not compare to those we had in France or at a great restaurant in Durham. The portion was small and it wasn't a classic wine and garlic broth. The bread was good, the salad average plus and the cheese plate was 4 star. The wine list was average... More
