Jimmy V’s Osteria & Bar is a unique and modern restaurant was created with Jimmy Valvano’s passion and commitment to excellence, and a percentage of the restaurant’s revenue is donated to the V Foundation. Jimmy Valvano’s love for food is the influence behind our menu creation featuring local and seasonal dishes with an emphasis on delicious Italian/American down to earth and traditional comfort foods using local farm grown ingredients and straightforward preparations. Also, our culinary team focuses on shareable small-plates, to encourage groups to socialize in a convivial atmosphere, which is warm and inviting for family gatherings, a night on the town or toasting drinks with friends.

You can do better than this

Overrated. I expect to pay a premium for hotel food but service was slow, my ravioli dish was cold and pricey. Next night, I braved walking several city blocks in bad weather to get a fantastic meal.

Excellent Dining

Thinking we were just grabbing a quick dinner close to our hotel, my husband and I were surprisingly amazed at the service and quality of every detail. I ordered Chicken Marsala over sweet potato with asparagus. My only regret was not taking a picture! The marsala included fresh, full slices of mushroom, the sweet potato soufflé was as light as a cloud and the asparagus was cooked perfectly leaving a hint of crunch. Humble, professional crew that is well deserving of your support in the times we’re facing. Thank you for a beautiful meal! God Bless.

We were staying at the Sheraton where Jimmy V's is located and hadn't eaten since an early breakfast. We met up with friends and sat in their open air terrace area for drinks. The weather was perfect for outside dining while having a roof over your head just in case. The menu was brief and I try to stay away from pasta or starch. I choose a Steak Salad with pecans, gorgonzola cheese and apple slices. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was a very generous size Spinach salad. I ate about half of the salad but all the steak and apples. Service was a little slow but it did start to get busy and like many places staffing shortage is apparent. We tried to eat Sunday breakfast here but they only offered a buffet. Again, I didn't want to eat to heavily so we left.

My sister and I was in town for the weekend and stayed at the Raleigh Marriott City Center. Later that evening, we decided to order food at the nearest restaurant which was next door to our hotel. I called to place an order with a young man name Russell. When he answered the phone, I begin to ask questions about the menu. He was abrupt with me and sound like he was rushing me off the phone. That was the first thing I noticed, however I brushed it off as if he was having a bad day. We walked over to the restaurant to get pick up our order. Once inside we noticed they were not busy due to COV-19. While standing at the counter we were greeted by Mr. Russell, with a nonchalant attitude. He gave us our total and hand us our food. We asked if we could sit in the patio area to eat our food, he said that was fine. At this point, we are feeling a certain way like we didn't belong there. While sitting outside my sister went to the bar to ask the bartender for two cokes. She stood at the bar for 10 minutes and was never approached or given a coke. There were only two other ladies at the bar. She returned to our table. A male waiter passed us and she asked him if he could bring us two cokes. To our surprise he never bought us our coke. We felt like our money was not wanted there and we will NEVER visit this restaurant again. My money is green just like the next person and I will spend it where I feel comfortable.Living in today's society there is not reason for anyone to be treated any different. The treatment we received was completely unacceptable.

I can only rate the service here because, after waiting 30 minutes at our table, our order was never taken. We did flag down a waitress after 20 minutes, but all she did was look at the menus we received, said we had the wrong ones, and swapped them out. The item I was going to order was $5 more on the new menu. But we decided to continue anyway. But after waiting another 10 minutes and nobody coming to take our order. We got up to leave. The waitress who swapped out our menus said something rude as we walked by. I've never experienced worst service in Raleigh!

First time customer not impressed

Came for dinner first time customer. Ordered crab dip as an appetizer and it did not come out until the rest of the food did. Sent it back. Ordered steak salad and burger. The salad was not good at all and the burger I feel Red Robin does a whole lot better. It was bland, tasteless, and not a good meal at all. Will not be returning.

Consistently Impressed

Love this place time and time again. Seafood is fresh, pizza is delicious, unique specials, good wine list, variety of kid menu options. Meatballs are huge! Never had a bad meal! Haven’t tried the brunch menu but it looks like a winner too! Super convenient to convention center and Marriott City Center.

Went on Easter Sunday at 10:30. They had a breakfast buffet available until 11 which was the usual fair. We chose to have lunch. Wife and I shared a 12 inch pizza, had two bloody mary's and one glass of Cava and was presented with a $ 68.00 bill including 20% tip for a party of 6 or more. Save your money and forget the name. Only good thing about the cost was 2.5% go to Cancer research.

Service made all the difference!

Myself and coworkers were able to enjoy the environment, conscience, and menu items while in town for work since we were staying at the Sheraton. Ask for Zach! We had a great experience and Zach made it all possible! I was very impressed with him, he made us feel very valued, and took wonderful care of us. Thank you to Zach for going above and beyond - he is greatly appreciated! Thank you, Zach!

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, good drink and food

Joined the bar later in the evening after a business dinner. Forget the bartender's name but he was very pleasant. Greeted us immediately and offered recommendations. Never let our drinks get empty and even when we may have had too many to realize the bar was closing, he was friendly and did not seem annoyed when he was trying to close down. A friend of our ordered chicken wings and shared. They were excellent. Nice crowds in and out through the night that all struck up conversation and friendly. I enjoyed visiting Jimmy V's.

Not bad but not my first choice

I stopped by here recently while in town on business. The place has a decent atmosphere. We were seated quickly. The food was just ok. Nothing special and nothing bad. Some items seemed a bit pricey for what they were. I guess that is just food in the city. Overall, our experience was fine. Would I go back there again? Probably not.

restaurant decor excellent, food good, service OK

We had some business at the Wake County Courthouse, which is a block down on Fayetteville Street, so we stopped in for a quick lunch at this restaurant within the Sheraton Hotel. That immediate part of Fayetteville Street is not the best part of town, but the surroundings inside the restaurant, namely the decor, are excellent. It has high ceilings. On one wall is a chalkboard on which people have scribbled pithy sayings about life. In addition, there is a beautiful outdoor seating area that looks out over a slightly nicer part of the street. We shared a Margherita pizza and some (non-alcoholic) drinks. The food was good. The service could have been better. Our waitress was not the most attentive. Prices are moderate. Overall, particularly if you sit outside, which we did, this is a nice place to stop in when you are in downtown Raleigh.

Great place

We weren't exactly pleased with the last bar we stopped so decided to stop in and give Jimmy V's a shot. I was impressed with the very open floor plan and much more natural light than the last bar, it was quite clear this was the place we would sit for a few drinks. With Brewgaloo happening outside seating at the bar was tight, but we were lucky to get a few. The bartender runs the bar like a pro, there is no delay in getting a drink order in and the drinks are expertly made. Regardless of how busy this bar was, the service remained the same, excellent! Cheers!

Good Food. Great Service.

What a fun place with good bar food. I was at the Sheraton for three nights and ate several meals here. The food is good and the service is even better. We had Brook many times as our server and what a sweetheart - so nice, knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating. Crab dip amazing.. was not a fan of the bruschetta but Gluten Free pizza with jalapeño was delish.

NEVER AGAIN!

We ate here before COVID and I ordered scallops which were spoiled. When I mentioned this to the staff, they did not take it off our bill. We thought we would give them another chance for mother's Day. They literally sent us a text one hour before our reservation to cancel our reservation! Seriously.. What poor poor service. Do NOT ever go to this restaurant.
