I was underwhelmed. The BBQ was okay but I was expecting more deep smoky flavor, but maybe that is just a regional difference based on my comparison with joints like The Dinosaur BBQ in NY. Ole Time had a very good and traditional Carolina BBQ sauce heavy on the vinegar. The fried chicken was lacking seasoning. Crispy yes, but bland.... More

Great place, inside is beat up and looks like every place I ate before 1970. Friendly staff - take some sauce home.

Pro: Great people -- very friendly and down to earth Place has character! Sides are excellent -- Hush Puppy, beans, fried okra Ice tea is excellent Con: Chicken was over cooked and dry Pulled pork needed sauce for flavoring We've been here a couple of times before the food was pretty good. It's got character in a small place but... More

The "Health Food" Challenge After turning 64 almost a year ago, one thing on my personal "bucket list" led to another. One of those culinary items was to consume a different North Carolina barbecue every month - or twelve times. (Somewhere in that guide book to healthy eating is a passage about expanding the definition of health food as long... More

May God Bless America and the Ole Time Barbecue. This is America at its best. While some folks at my hotel called it a "hole in the wall" BBQ restaurant, I call it wonderful. My NC BBQ sandwitch was chopped pork. Cole Slaw on top with great BBQ Beans. Loved the home sauce. I sat at the counter (also had... More

I've eaten a devil of a lot of NC style BBQ and fried chicken at a lot of places in lots of towns but this was hands down some of the best I've ever eaten. Come hungry cause you're gonna want to eat your weight in que and chicken.

Loved this place. All by itself on the roadside - small with 12-15 tables. Very unassuming from the road - bright yellow at night! We arrived close to closing time on a Saturday night and didn't feel rushed at all. Very good ribs and barbeque, amazing homemade collards and coleslaw. Couldn't have asked for a better place to grab a... More

BLOWN AWAY by the service!! The food is flat out delicious. They put a lot of love into all their meats but I love their chicken and pastry. That dish is not over spiced and they leave it to you to kick up the flavor the way you like it. I even swiped some of my wife's chopped BBQ and... More
