If you want a local treat, this is the place. All the down home fixin's and a colorful environment, best for breakfast. Try the grilled biscuits especially, topped off with the western omelet, grits, or whatever your favorite may be. The line moves quickly in the morning and the service is quick and friendly.

You couldn't go wrong at their original location in downtown Raleigh. But, they outdid themselves with a 2nd location in North Raleigh. Both locations have great breakfast items, great down-home atmosphere with fantastic and friendly servers. When I think breakfast, this is one of two at the top of my list.

I first visited Big Ed's over 10 years ago and they have never let me down. The food has always been good. They serve real, fresh collard greens chopped up fine...excellent!

Went Sunday morning for brunch. The food was wonderfully prepared. The hot cakes are larger than the plates and the taste is just as big! I am not a pancake/hot cake fan, but I enjoyed sharing a little of the one that my husband ordered. The waitress brought a couple of extra plates to the table so we could share.... More

Took my grandson for first visit to Big Eds. The Ag decor was educational and the food,as always , was great. The size of hot cake was jaw dropping. Grilled biscuits with honey was my favorite side. Will go again soon.

I recommend the omelets, the potatoes, the biscuits, the pancakes, the sausage, the country ham and the bacon. Because I am from the NW and not the south, I cannot understand enjoying grits, but hey, maybe you'll like them. In fact, I did not know there was 'city ham' and 'country ham'. But hey, they've probably never heard of goeducks!... More

I have never had bad service or anything short of great food. Even on busy N C State football Saturday mornings, Big Ed's knocks it out of the park.

With a name like Big Ed's, you know the place will have some personality. From the perfect biscuits to the just right country ham and the waitresses who call you sugar, you know it's gonna be great. Go when you're not worried about calories and order a breakfast your grandmama would have made on the farm. I can't do it... More
