Angus Barn came highly recommended by friends that frequent the areas restaurants. We did make reservations weeks in advance which is recommended. Welcoming staff seated our party of 8 quickly and we were welcomed by a very knowledgeable super nice server! Menu is what you...would expect - meat and lots of it. I ordered a rib eye and lobster both cooked perfectly (medium rare). Cost was what you would expect from a high-quality restaurant. Looking forward to going back!!!More

This has been our go to place for years. The last few times i veered away from my filet. Had crab cakes one night, lobster the other. Bothe were really poor. I guess it is called the Angus barn for a reason. Caesar salad not...good. Go with the wedge.More

We were visiting from out of town so my son in law made reservations at Angus Bar and wow, I am so glad I was able to dine here. We sat in the bar area for a few minutes before being seated at our table....The drinks were great and we were brough crackers and 2 home made cheeses on a tray. It was delicious. This place is huge with a lot of history. The ambiance is wonderful. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinners; each one was prepared precisely to our liking. Our server, Melanie was very attentive and nice. After dinner, Melanie brought out a dessert tray with scrumptios dessert choices. It was hard to decide, but I picked the pecan pie and my husband had the cobber. Both were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend Angus Barn and can't wait to go back!!!!More

Delicious as always with a great atmosphere! After dessert we finished our evening out back by the fire. Our server Cayton was attentive and friendly.

After waiting 2.5 hours for a table (!), I was expecting a lot. The service was good, our waiter was friendly, food came relatively fast, but nowhere near worth nearly 3.5 hours of my time by the end of the night. The menu is small...and you pretty much get a cut of meat and 2 sides - was hoping for more creativity. My steak was undercooked (I ordered medium but it was closer to medium rare), and the stuffed potato was good but nothing incredible. Overall the food is fine, the wait time isn't worth it, and the entire experience can be very overwhelming, especially if visiting at Christmas. There are better steakhouses in Raleigh with far less of a wait time.More

It’s been sometime since we’ve been there. First let me say the service was fantastic. Darrell was special and I tip for that service. Unfortunately, the food was not near as good as I remembered in the past. My tomato basil soup lack any basil...taste at all. My spouse, it was our 64th wedding anniversary, order the lobster that was large was over cooked. My prime beef was just ok. Needless to say we will not be going again.More

Angus Barn has built a tremendous reputation but after tonight that’s all they have. My wife booked my birthday dinner months ago. We entered excited for the experience and left utterly disappointed. It’s Easter Sunday so the menu was set. There was a plate of...cheese and crackers sitting on the table before we sat down. The crackers were good, but the cheese was extremely bland. Our server brought out a basket of rolls before we could even spread cheese on a second cracker. The rolls were followed by main course before we could eat the first roll. We were both given a full plate of food along with a small plate of beef tenderloin for the table My dinner plate was hotter than any of the food on it. The ham was white with one or two areas that looked pink and extremely dry. The mashed potatoes were clearly made hours ahead of time. The macaroni and cheese was less than good. The macaroni was soft and mooshy. The meals came with a small dish of shrimp and grits. The shrimp was decent as were the grits. I have no idea what was served over the dish but it was dark and dry. I’d say the small plate was the best part of the meal. Unfortunately the least desirable part of our meals was the tenderloin. It was so overcooked that there was no pink anywhere on the plate. While it was relatively tender ot was so overdone/dry that I simply can’t return to Angus Barn for beef, which is what they’re supposed to specialize in. It was truly terrible. We took dessert to go. We were so rushed that we were out the door within 45 minutes. Food was unappetizing and cold.More

Frankly I will never understand the difficulty in getting a reservation at this restaurant. It had been 20 years since we last had a meal here. We had hopped that possibly the food had gotten better, but we still found it to be a mediocre....restaurant with a very talented staff.More

We were looking forward to eating here for our 5 year anniversary. We had eaten here about 10 years ago and had a great meal. The service was great however the food was disappointing. My prime rib was tough and her lobster was undercooked and...tasteless. Both meals were replaced. The manager said another customer had complained about the prime rib so they threw away that loin and were cutting from a new one. The new one was not any better. Same for the lobster. The complimentary anniversary cake was stale. We figured the regular cook was off or did not show up. So disappointing!More

The saying “ you get what you pay for” does not apply regarding the quality of food at Angus Barn. Since moving to NC all I heard about was how great the food is at Angus Barn. I finally went with my sister and daughter....We all ordered filet mignonette. Two wanted it medium and one wanted it medium rare. Our waitress couldn’t even remember that. She had to return to verify. Only two of the steaks were cooked as asked. One of the mediums was medium well. All three came with au jus that was more like faux jus. It was more like some sort of steak sauce thinned down. I ordered button mushrooms that came from a jar. One would think an upscale place like the Angus Barn would at least use fresh. I can’t even begin to talk about the cheese and crackers on the table where we were seated. I think they were put together by small children. That should have been the first clue that this place was not “upscale” but “up-priced.” The only thing that was cooked perfectly and seasoned was the asparagus and broccoli. The filets were far from tender and lacked any flavor. I feel totally cheated and deceived by the Angus Barn’s claim as “the beef eaters haven”.More

Our server Nikki D was great. She made super recommendations for wine pairings with our meals. We were treated to a tour of the wine cellar and the rest of this unique property by Andres. He was so generous with his time and every staff...member we encountered welcomed us with "hope you enjoy your stay" and "thanks for coming" to "we hope to see you again soon." If there was a rating higher than 5 stars, that's what we would go with.More

I went to this restaurant with my family. The steaks are very expensive and quite frankly, not worth the cost. Unfortunately, there was a very large group ahead of us in the kitchen, so we had to wait longer. By the time our dinner came, everything...was pretty cold and not the best it could have been. The service was excellentMore
