Lunch wasn't super busy, but place sounded really busy. Waitress was fantastic, knew her Greek wines. By the glass wine list was solid. Proper tzaziki sauce, and the souvlaki platter was spot on.

This is the only restaurant in the city that has true authentic Greek food. The atmosphere is that of a early evening celebration just getting underway. All of the food was prepared perfectly and matched with a great selection of wines. It is a treat to go and enjoy the Greek food and atmosphere without leaving our boarders. Highly recommended.

We stopped here for appetizers and a drink. It is a Greek themed restaurant with a full menu. We were on a schedule so we only stayed for appetizers and a drink. We ordered the "Greek Spreads Trio" which has Tzatziki, Spicy Feta and Eggplant Spreads. It was an opportunity to sample some great traditional Greek foods. The Wine and... More

Overall an enjoyable visit for a group of friends. Late afternoon so no crowd. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Good apps that we shared around the table. Entrees were okay but nothing special.

Three of us had dinner there during restaurant week. What great place. It feels like a neighborhood feel to it. Caring staff. Ask for William as your server. He is super nice and knowledgeable. The food is just yummy. Huge portions. The lamb tips and orzo was amazing. A very authentic Greek salad was super great. Lemoncello cake is perfect.... More

This restaurant has a great rooftop seating area. We really enjoyed the outdoor setting overlooking Hillsborough Street. The menu was large and varied with lots of typical Mediterranean treats. All of the food was extremely fresh. The appetizer spreads were excellent, we had hummus, spicy feta spread, and tzatziki. The hummus was some of the best I've had. We also... More

My wife and I & another couple decided, at the last minute on Monday night, to try Taverna's new location on Hillsborough St (we used to go regularly to Taverna when it was on Glenwood but were somewhat reluctant to try the new location due to our perceived issue with parking). Since it was a Monday, we figured it would... More

We hadn't been to Taverna Agora since they moved from Glenwood Avenue a year and a half ago and were very pleasantly surprised. For starters the restaurant looks so much like what you would see in Greece (or Astoria NY!) that it was almost a shock to find our server was not Greek. It's a lovely space with raves from... More

We were staying at the Holiday Inn downtown and this is right next door. It was convenient and had pretty good reviews. We decided to give it a try. We had the shared sampler as an appetizer which included Stuffed Grape Leaves, Spinach Pie, Cheese Pie and Tzatziki, served with pita. It was fun and we were pretty full after... More

Description
Taverna Agora is an authentic Greek kitchen & bar where friends & family enjoy good wine, eat wonderfully prepared, simple food and relax. The restaurant is reminiscent of gathering places found in Greece, with old world flavors and rustic roots. However, Taverna Agora expands beyond the traditional agora with a few modern flares, including hand-crafted cocktails, a gourmet marketplace and Sunday brunch.
